Tomorrow When The War Began – Trailer

Looks like Red Dawn Australian edition:

Based on the best selling book (of the same name) by John Marsden.

If you’re interested, the movie is available for rental for $4 on, and you can also buy the DVD there too.

Has anyone seen this movie yet?  Is it worth watching?

Worth the watch not worth a buy. I just hope the new Red Dawn “remake” is better than the aussie version.

It’s a decent rental. I found it interesting that they never bother to identify the nationality of the enemy, though it’s implied by the gear and hardware that the mysterious Asian soldiers use. There are some cheesy parts but you have to remember that the movie and the book series that it’s based on are intended for a young adult audience. There’s a noticeable lack of flag-waving and a refreshing emphasis on self-reliance. Overall I’d say it’s worth the watch. Too bad the underlying lessons are wasted on Her Majesty’s willing subjects.

It’s a decent enough movie (wouldn’t shell out to buy it though), but as Johnny says, it’s a young adult kind of thing.

Did I spot an old Ferret Scout Car ( at 0:44 and 1:23? An unexpected choice for a high-tech invader.

Its worth watching once, but don’t expect to feel tear jerking patriotism and spirit to pulse through your soul like it did with Red Dawn..

it’s been on the intertubes for 2+ years now.. felt more like part 1 of 4 vs a real movie.

It was intended to be part one of… but it didn’t do well enough at the box office to turn the other books into films.

And remember kids, the aim point on a descending paratrooper is his boots. Got to lead a moving target and he’s moving down, so aiming for his boots will have the bullets impacting on his torso……

^^^ expect this to be worked into a yeager course sometime soon

Ha! I just watched this yesterday.

There is no gun porn whatsoever in there. And it makes Red Dawn seem entirely plausible. And the enemy makes Stormtroopers look like Navy Seals.

TeamDub August 14, 2012 at 10:24 am

Watched it. Meh, better than “Beaches,” but don’t expect too much.

I liked it enough to read the rest of the series to see how it ends, as part of a series it makes a lot more sense. Considering how well received it was in Australia i am surprised they are not planning for it and giving everyone an AR to keep at home just in case.
It was this movies domestic success that made Hollywood go for the red dawn remake they say.

How can a war “began” tomorrow?

arcanesoldierx August 14, 2012 at 02:33 pm

I’d much rather see Gray State over Red Dawn or Tomorrow When The War Began

Just saw this garbage on late-night cable a few days ago…. I would rather be stuck on a desert island with only the original “Red Dawn” to watch for the rest of my life, than have to watch this once a day as a millionaire…
The “action” sequences are terrible, and the nameless-Asian enemy that invaded Australia (apparently with the blessing of our Western-NATO-Savior Nations), can’t even handle these kids (who apparently may be the only Australian kids to make their first camp-out into the outback in their early 20’s).
Nevermind an ending that solves absolutely nothing…
The worst zombie movies of all-time are Oscar-worthy compared to this.

Gawd this movie sucks in stereophonic sound! It’s just teenage drivel, sorry I meant bad teenage dialog. This pack of girls and girly boys are too busy taking about who is into who to notice enemy soilders sneaking up on them, and this is very late in the movie. This pack of incompetents, by which I mean the good guys finally man up then the movie ends. In the event of a red dawn scenario in Australia I would expect lots and lots of dead Australians seeing as they are a species that has had the spinal column bred out of them.

But that’s probably just the New Zealander in me speaking.

Movie was crappy. It was very teeny bopperish with most of the movie discussing what guy likes what girl and thier relationships. They don’t really do crap but whine the whole movie. As someone said earlier, just as they start to get it together and do something the movie ends.
