Why I Carry A Gun

MrColionNoir keeps calm and carries one:

Out of all his serious videos, in my opinion this is one of the best.  I agree with all his points 100%.

It’s going to be pretty hard for people to get as upset over this video as some people did with his Concealed Carry And Dealing With The Homeless video.

As you can see his wearing the ENDO Keep Calm And Carry One t-shirt… one of my favorites.  If you like it head over to ENDO Apparel and pick one up.  If I don’t have your size, get on the notification list because I have more coming in soon.  The shirt is also available in white.

Thoughts?  Why do you carry a gun?

  1. He has very pertinent points.

The biggest problem with modern American residents (especially the anti-gun crowd) is they don’t get some important points:

    1) 911 is there to clean up the mess. By the time you are calling 911 under normal circumstances, the help is a minimum five minutes away, regardless of reason for the call.

    2) Law enforcement has no requirement to protect you individually.

    3) Criminals are going to possess a weapon no matter what laws exist. Outlaw all guns and destroy them all. The criminal will have swords and knives. Outlaw and destroy the knives and swords — criminals will resort to bricks and stones.

The old joke from the 80s is that WWIII will be fought with nukes. WWIV will be fought with sticks and stones.

    Has that changed?

Good points Jim, especially #1. I have an officer friend of mine who is very pro CCW tell me all the time that he is a First Responder. His job is not really crime prevention, it is responding to it after the fact. He says they get lucky once in a great while and actually stop a crime before it happens, but that is the exception to the rule. It is the job of John Q. Public to protect themselves and to consider us just re-enforcement.

  2. WE, are first responders, not the police. So be ready to give whatever aid is needed; medical or shots down range to stop a bad guy from doing harm.

  3. Why I carry?
It’s easier to learn to shoot than it is to spend “years” training on some kind of fighting system. Most systems don’t even address self-defense against firearms/weapons, or still practice self-defense against swords.
Running isn’t always an option for those with bad/compromised joints, previous injuries, etc.
When force is applied it must be confronted with equal or greater force.
Carrying a knife is not only inefficient compared to shooting, it requires a higher amount of training and also requires me to get “danger close” to a bad individual.
    White people or zombies
The government can be totally trusted, I love how they treat their boarder agents.
To protect those who are unable emotionally or physically to wield a deadly weapon
Self-defense against an aggressor who is threatening my life, trying to maim me, and/or another.
It’s a tool just like my pocket knife, multi-plier, etc. Just like my other tools I’d rather not use them outside of necessity and/or for training.
    World peace hasn’t happened yet.
    – Because Poppy (another poster on ENDO) doesn’t have any firearms and I have to protect him from the bogeyman.

    1. What? You don’t want to use ninja skills when confronted by force?

The last time I said it was dumb to get in a knife fight on this blog, the Cold Steel trolls came running. Apparently they’ve never seen that scene from Indian Jones where a revolver trumps a scimitar.

      1. Or the untouchables where a sawed off shotgun trumps a knife

        1. Or real life where their attacker would take their Cold Steel knife away and shank the shit out of them with it.

      2. No ninja skills. In most situations if someone has already decided to use force, my verbal skills have either failed or have no effect.

Some bad-guys or wannabe-tough-guys who either love their sports so much or their own image refuse to back down no matter what you’ve said. Even general/affable disagreement sometimes can get a certain type of person’s blood going. I’m not a mind reader, so it’s best (in my opinion) not to escalate and leave.

Being a macho-fucker is for those who live in dream-land masturbating to MMA and Blackhawk Down while sexualizing inatimate objects and women’s bodies. Said people are basically waiting to impress other people by how “awesome” they – macho fuckers – are with their self-image. <The same "angry fuckers" will turn in to bigger assholes if you draw on them or even make mention a firearm, doing the whole, "He said he'd kill me!" while finger pointing to the police.

Again, when I see people like that get angry or macho, I leave or take the puss-cake route, "Okay, well I'm sorry." While gesturing to leave. I'd rather appear like a big pussy, than the guy who kills someone because angry hot-headed loves his sports or image more than this own life/the lives of those around him.

So, why do I own/carry? Because sometimes angry people refuse to back-down and intend to “teach” you a lesson, or rather he or she is a bad-guy without regard for human dignity and life.

Having grown up in Los Angeles the liberal mindset (at least there) is that they can talk their way out of what ever harm is coming at them. That being said most of them live in very upscale usually gated communities where interacting with the great unwashed is only a once in awhile kind of thing. Most of the time they’re locked behind their gates or in their locked up climate controlled SUV’s jamming down the 101 or 405. Which is why I think they don’t generally see the need for armed self defense, and since most of them seem to have a slight megalomania complex, they don’t see a need for YOU to need armed self defense. Also most of them have that irrational fear of an inanimate object thing, as they all seem to believe the gun is going to discharge on it’s own without anyone ever touching it.

    1. Dead on Harry, dead on.

    2. This is an awesome explanation that I hadn’t heard until now. A good look at the other side of the fence. Growing up on farm in the midwest I didn’t have a lot of exposure to this.

    3. Well put.

because carrying an carl gustav is frowned upon.

  8. Why do I carry a pistol? Because it’s lighter than carrying a cop.

Looking forward to a ‘One Take Mr.ColionNoir’ video someday.
