Art Of The Dynamic Sledgehammer

I’m sure in real life the police have trouble getting into fortified buildings with doors stronger than they would hope.  It just gets to the point where it’s embarassing though for everyone involved haha.  I wonder if in the training manual somewhere it says “Rule #6 of door breaching – After 5 hits with no success, get the plastic explosives.”

Thoughts?

    “Hold what?”

Hahaha he did swing it like a girl.

    2. absolutely. Surprised he wasn’t wearing his red pumps…

  2. wtf is the point of hitting the top and bottom of the door? He wasnt swinging on the side with the hinges. And if your going to lug around a heavy tool, why not a actual battering ram that can be swung by 2 people at once?

  3. Apparently this was a prank, and if you listen carefully the door is unlocked as the second soldier moves in to kick it.

    1. Agreed. Either a prank or a wholly staged video.

The point of hitting high, center, low? By looking at the external side of the door we can learn that the inside has the potential to have up to 3 locks(row of rivets top center bottom). Each section should have actually been shocked once to determine the actual locations and type of locks…then the halligan should have been used and driven behind those locks. Forcing a door is easy, if using the correct tools. The two tools shown are called the “heavy irons” or “the keys to the city”, when used together there is little that can stop them. The reason a battering ram is a poor choice here, is that this prop looks to be a commercial door that in real life might swing out…commercial doors are fire rated and steel clad with steel frames. Beating on a outward swinging door with a ram will likely do nothing. Force entry is an art.

My uncle, a professional firefighter, has multiple stories of people trying to break windows to to unlock doors that were unlocked already and could have just been opened.

    1. I saw that once in a guide to lock picking.
Step 1: Make sure door is locked.

  7. I saw this video last week and almost pissed my pants!

he was more or less tapping… if you’re going to swing, swing from the end furthest from the head. more force. rather than near the head and more or less knocking loudly so someone comes and opens it.
