Real talent? Or just model level hotness?
Let me start off by saying I know absolutely zero about competitive shooting. It interests me as much as wasting my valuable time watching people play any other sports such as football, baseball etc. The objective of professional competitions normally are to try and win though… so I find Glock’s acquisition of Michelle Viscusi interesting to say the least.
Is she really good enough to roll with the rest of Team Glock?

She was a disappointing 5th out of 18 people to be eliminated on Top Douchebag season 4. I never watched the show so I can’t tell you if she got screwed somehow on that, but I’m sure the producers would have loved to have her on there for ratings if they could have somehow swung it. Also, I’ve never seen her shoot, and before someone makes some smart-ass comment about how well I can or cannot shoot I’ll save you the trouble and say I know she can shoot better than me. That said, I find it incredibly hard to believe that out of every professional level man or woman that should have been on Glock’s radar, she was the best. Best looking, possibly… but best shooter? What is the purpose of Team Glock anyway? Is it just a PR machine to strut around at trade shows and have a presence in the competitive shooting world? Does winning or losing really not matter?
You can read the full press release / interview with Viscusi over at Military Times. After reading the article there is no doubt she is a hard worker, but I still question if all her practice and recent dedication has got her skills at par with the other competitive shooters that took years to get where’s shes now at.
With Tori Nanonka also on the team, Glock is definitely going to have some killer calendar material if they ever want to raise some money.

I guess picking a Maxim model and teaching her how to shoot was easier than finding a shooter and turning her into a Maxim model….but then again every guy who shoots is going to find female shooters more attractive than normal. It’s obviously a PR stunt and a gaudy, unprofessional one at that.
As long as she doesn’t bitch about people calling her sexy like Danica Patrick who by the way is not sexy I don’t think it’s a bad thing. On Top Shot (yes I watched it… So what?) She seemed cool not much personality but not a bitch either. I say good for her the more eye candy the better. If she agrees to wear that outfit with the duel D-eagles hell I will pay to watch.

Glock isn’t like Ferrari. They are in the business of selling firearms, not winning competitions. Team Glock exists not to win competitions, but to sell Glocks. There is nothing wrong with this strategy, we just need to keep the goals of Team Glock in mind. If they decide that hiring an attractive woman as a team member rather than the most experienced shooter they can find is a better strategy for selling firearms, so be it.
UM no, Team Glock used to be about nothing but winning comps and promoting the brand. It’s only about the latter now.
If that was true then they wouldn’t have called it Team Glock. It exists to promote a product. Whether you perceive things this way is irrelevant.

Seems like a great decision by Glock. As long as she is competitive, which she is from the match scores I’ve seen, she’ll do great for them. She doesn’t have to be the best, though I think she has the potential, she just has to keep eyeballs on the Glock brand. And even if she turned out to be a poor competitor even shitty NASCAR drivers have cars plastered with logos of sponsors. It’s all about the eyeballs and competitive shooting isn’t like pro sports because pretty much anyone can shoot any match.
I don’t follow matches or match scores, but I am genuinely surprised to hear that she is “competitive,” in matches. I just looked at a few videos of her shooting steel and was not very impressed. She could not run a plate rack clean. Maybe my expectations are set a little high due to the high level shooters that Team Glock used to have, but she seems like she is just a bit above average as a shooter.
Team Glock was rocked with scandal last year and saw the exodus of several of their top talented shooters. Jesse Abbate/Harrison/Duff, Randi Rogers, and Dave Sevigny all left to shoot for other teams. The scandal revolved around charges filed against Jesse’s ex-husband William Abbate, a team coach, who was accused of having an illicit relationship with one of Team Glock’s junior shooters (generally suspected to be Tori N).
Maybe this lady is the best they can pull in at the moment.

I think this is exactly the case. Since William Abbate pulled his statutory rape caper, and Team Glock basically dissolved overnight, Glock has probalby had to re-think it’s strategy for making their team notable. They certainly aren’t going to be notable for winning Adult competions with the best shooters on other teams.

I love women as much as the next man but being a part of the gun community, I cant give any respect to her or Glock for that matter. There are so many talented and beautiful female shooters that deserve respect for hard work on honing those skills and then there is Michelle… Granted she’s way more talented than most i.e., me. I don’t think she is good enough to be on team glock.. Just can’t take her seriously. I am a Glock user and Fan but they are falling into the gimmicky category where much to my regret Costa himself is walking into. Action figures and weird tape to “enhance” your shooting. What now? A Michelle Viscusi version of Mattel’s Barbie with duel wielding Glocks included?… BUT then again… I could be out of my mind. Otherwise, she not to hard on the eyes.
Lastly, I am pretty sick of seeing desert eagles in these photo shoots.. It bothers me that they are seen as the ultimate gun. Clunky and over priced.

presumably the usual way of picking folks for such teams is looking for talent at shooting competitions. So if there are no other shooters that wanted this job with the same or better skills then i am fine with it. If they picked her because shes hot then i am not. If she starts competing in lingerie then i am fine with it again and might even watch.

I don’t doubt that she’ll do very well quickly. Most people don’t have the time or money to become a great shooter, it is a very niche sport. You need a place to train, you need people to train you, and you need lots and lots of ammo. It gets really expensive quickly. Any dedicated reasonably athletic and skilled person can make themself a great shooting through dedication and money – talent will only help. Like celebrities in car racing – it comes down to time and money. Michele is a healthy young women. If she has the resources, time, and dedication, I am sure she will advance quickly.
Her looks will only help the sport. Let’s hope Michele does well. Look at Ronda Rousey – perhaps the biggest star to ever come out of MMA. Yeah she’s an amazing fighter, but that’s not the story.

That’s actually a good point. Given training facilities, high quality coaching, and plenty of time to practice pretty much anyone can become competitive level at pretty much anything. Natural ability helps but if GLOCK is willing to put forward the resources to create a competitive level shooter it really doesn’t matter who they pick. Of course I doubt it was her natural shooting ability that led Team GLOCK to select Ms. Viscusi.

Most of us just see the inclusion of a BLS into this competition as a shallow attempt by Glock to raise product awareness through sexualized advertising. Which is why such a larger emphasis is placed on the “Breasts” of this being in comparison to ancillary characteristics like personality, skill or having some semblance of a soul.

My argument was simply that, from what I can gather from the comments of my fellow intellectuals on this post, the ENDO community’s distaste for Tits McGee (is that her name? I can’t remember) stems more so from Glock’s transparent use of her as a marketing tool and her apparent lack of qualifying skill than the fact that none of my fellows have exchanged fluids with her genitally.

I quite frankly don’t care about Team Glock, Team S&W, Team whatever the hell.
My evaluation of a firearm is that can it fire 100 rounds per day for ten days with no maintenance and no stovepipe, ND, jam or other similar event using the same ammunition.
If I have to use special ammunition (Remington v. Winchester)– the firearm is out. I don’t want or expect AK-47 tolerances, but the Vietnam era M-16 is also not acceptable.

She probably did what a bunch of people do with our Meetup group… They join our group to learn about guns… most of them being actors/actresses (broke waiters & waitress around here).. Then they can put “Firearms training” or “Gun Experience” on their head shot… I see it all the time… IT’s pretty sad. She probably KINDA likes guns, but really wants to be a model.. There is no such thing as a woman who looks like that (model hot) and WONT, at the drop of a dime, take up modeling instead of working a real day job. Modeling is fucking easy and you dont need to think.
