MrColionNoir on this recent post election debacle we have become accustomed to:

Yea that sums it up nicely.

Thoughts?  Did any of you guys stock up a long time ago, in anticipation of this happening again?

  1. Ive always had a ton of 22lr. Id never buy a saiga 12. Why hasnt he worn a Texas Rangers hat yet? (i even have one if he wants to borrow it. Digicam Logo, size 8, rarely worn, new era 5950, in centex, other things)

  2. Gonna be doing a LOT more dry fire and 6mm training this winter….

  3. I stocked up before the election. Now I get to sit back and laugh.

Dipshit, manufacturers aren’t screwing you, other consumers are. As you mentioned, it’s pure speculative buying, just like many investments on Wall Street.

My magical crystal ball looked back to 2008 and told me to stock up primers (I am a reloader). I have at least a year’s supply of primers and powder, and a few month’s worth of bullets – the bullet situation never will get too bad because I can always buy from local casters/lead miners affiliated with our clubs. I checked Midway and Midsouth today and both are out of CCI and Federal small pistol primers already (except Midsouth still has Federal Gold Match small for less then $30 per 1k – they’ll be gone soon).

winchester and CCI primers dried up overnight unless you’re paying $150 a case w/o shipping hazmat

  7. I always have extra ammo around. Not a shit ton, but enough. I will slowly be buying more though, just in case anything does happen.

  8. I have about 10,000 rounds in 10 different calibers. Need more. Just spent the last 2 nights handloading 500 rnds of 300 Blackout. Better have it and not need it then need it and not have it. Bought another stripped AR receiver just in case.

  9. Someone should probably add more lighting to their videos or take off that silly hat.
    St. Louis Cardinals please?

Heck, yeh–I stocked up cases of .45, 5.56, a few cans of 50 bmg a couple weeks out–prices won’t go down, I can always sell it locally if I want the cash, and while I didn’t really think that America was ready to recreate East Berlin on the Potomac River, I knew prices would shoot up if that incompetent buffoon was not kicked out of office….

  11. Well, President Nero’s admin have now renewed their support for the UN Arms Small Arms Treaty. I predict that much infringment on gun rights will be attempted over the next four years. His first term required some patience, second is where he will go wild.

I picked up a noveske bare lower before all this happened for a build, I will be using that rifle to replace a Ruger 556 that I will be selling sometime in the not too distant future. I also picked up some ammo be fire the election, not anywhere near as much as I would like though.

So yeah, I kind of figured that something like this was going to happen, even if romney got in.

  13. Regardless of who was elected, the price of ammo will see an increase this January. The reason being shipping costs are going up. Most ammo is shipped under 49 CFR, or ORM-D; this designation is disappearing and it will have to roll under the Explosive class. This means a larger surcharge which will have to be passed along to the consumer.

    1. Yeah, its going up in price because of a hundred reasons other than the election. (so is everything else) Sure the tinfoil hat crowd will drive up demand, but hopefully they are still sitting on all that apocalypse ammo they brought 4 years ago and have yet to use.

Hopefully, it’s not like that stuff goes bad unless it’s improperly stored. I heard of one guy who stockpiled cor-bon 460 S&W loads during the 2008 shortage. That must have cost an ungodly fortune.

Though it isn’t ammo, I did buy a shitload of magazines (200 dollars worth) a few days ago…

Am I part of the problem? Be honest. I can take it!

Nah but seriously I only had 2 mags for my g19 so I decided to get some more, and P-mags are always good to have.

  15. would love to hear more on supply and demand.

My .223 ammo was $10.59 a box for the last 2 or 3 years. Now is $25.59 a box and “Out of Stock”. I am glad I stocked up a couple of months ago. When Obama is done, no one will able to afford to shoot.

  17. I just paid $2500 for a sig 556 swat model. And everyone is out of ammo. Shit…ironically, the zombie shit is $30/box. Holy WOW! Lucky I have a bunch of ammo. Prices are crazy. CTD was selling mags for like $100 each. WTF? Lets keep our fingers crossed. Hope it is only fear mongering. Otherwise this is gonna suck. Shit, we already have to show ID to buy ammo and fill out a paper with all kinds of info. What the hell else do they want? (CA). But I will remember what Cheaper Than Dirt is doing. Price gougers will receive no money from me EVER again.
