Here I Am Rusting After A Hurricane

Said the guns which fellow blogger Jesse Ingall had to clean up after Sandy:

Check out the rest of the pictures over at Jesse’s blog and fire up this Scorpions song while you browse.

It looks like a rough job, but someone’s gotta do it.  I’m glad Jesse had the skills to bring those back to life.

Thoughts?

How many of us keep our guns in the basement? Should probably rethink that if you live in a low lying area.
Saltwater sucks

Insurance? None of those guns looks irreplaceable, so unless there was real sentimental value (heirloom, lucky gun, etc.) I’d see that amount of rust as nature’s way of telling me to go shopping.

“Rusting from a hurricane” works much better.
Missed opportunities…

I was in the same situation after Hurricane Katrina. My Benelli Nova, an old .22lr, and my Maadi AK were all underwater (saltwater) for over 2 weeks! Guess which one still fires today. If you guessed the AK, you are correct! After a little media blasting and a coat of Duracoat…good as new!
