Scumbag Cheaper Than Dirt Pulls A Recoil

Well well look who pissed off their entire customer base, then tried to take it back:

Scumbag-Cheaper-Than-Dirt-Statement

Scumbag-Cheaper-Than-DirtToo Late!

I’m sure just like the Recoil MP7 incident, people will forget really fast this happened, and new people getting into shooting will not know any better… but I hope not.

Cant-Believe

I actually now regret not planning to go to SHOT this year… there would be so many booths I’d like to hang around just to being a fly on the wall eavesdropping on people telling companies such as Cheaper Than Dirt, and individuals like Buck Yeager where to go.  Definitely some missed opportunities in live blogging…

Thoughts?

  1. Tried to take it back, holy bat S*** he didn’t.. 289 for a evil mag5-100.. Brownells is still 125.00 and Charles Daly metal mags for 39.95 CTD.COM can burn in hell. Making money off of fears. What needs to happen is hire seasonal help and pump stuff out 24/7 365. The market supports it, guess the pro 2A guys will rescue the not so heard of finnicial cliff :)

Yeah, that boggles the mind. How in the hell is that worth $289? Good luck going prone with the BatWing(TM) hanging out of your carbine. That’s like paying for S&M with Helen Thomas.

CTD can go to hell. They were jacking up prices by the hour. I personally witnessed it. Midway USA took the mature approach and began to sell 2 mags per customer AT THE SAME PRICE. Price gouging like CTD did is criminal.

  3. I really wonder whether Dummer than Dirt will ever recover from this epic debacle. Intelligent folks who don’t have an irrational fear of guns often have extremely long memories.

  4. unsubscribed and added them to the spam filter. i’ll recycle every print catalog that comes without opening it, since it’s worth more as kindling and post consumer waste.

    Cheaper Than Dust. ;)

  6. We don’t forget so easily… We all remember Zumbo I’m sure.

  7. I actually proud of CTD. We live in a free market at least for the time being and raising prices is their right. This isn’t a monopoly they were selling their goods on the internet and were competing with everyone else who was selling their product vastly cheaper. CTD probably had stock on hand long after their competitors sold out allowing people to buy what they thought was worth it. Rationing like their competitors would of prevented people from buying as many mags at they feel they need.

    1. Good luck explaining this to the troll pit. I don’t like paying high prices either, but anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of economics should know that when demand moves, either supply or price have to move as well. Those companies that didn’t move price certainly moved supply; they aren’t selling anything to anyone who didn’t get there first.

If they want to raise their prices then that’s their right.
Sorry… that’s capitalism and they don’t seem to be the only ones jacking up their prices.
With that said, I doubt that I’ll be doing a lot of business with them in the future. I’ve found better sources over the last few years and SKD was a class act in regards to their Magpul pricing.
I suspect that a lot of businesses are burning bridges with their customers right now. That’s fine. Anything that I can buy from CTD and these other companies can be bought elsewhere.

  9. I think it’s hilarious that a CTD add came up when I viewed this. Are you no longer going to accept proceeds from CTD ads? Just a question…

LOL nice! As they say there’s no such thing as bad press. If CTD wants to pull their ads, they know who to contact. ;)
