The Shadiness Of Obama’s Proposed Gun Control Policies

Shady policies are shady:

Ugh politics.  Why can’t people just live their lives without killing innocent people and messing shit up for the rest of us?  Is that really too much to ask?

The NRA has a new ad on Standard capacity magazines, which they call “high capacity”:

200-Round-AK-47-MagazineNot sure why they would mess up the nomenclature.  I’d assume the NRA would know better, and I would have expected them to actually point out that “high capacity” is a misnomer as a part of their ad.

Thoughts?

    You’re being sarcastic, right?

    1. you missed the ‘ugh politics’ part which gave that sentence context

  3. The NRA is a bureaucratic machine…not an activist machine.

They move along the same channels as the rest of the mainstream power entities: media, gov’t, etc.

So..they use the media driven language. They are not about precision…but hammers. They use their power as a blunt object while we use scalpels.

I don’t understand any of this. Let’s just give up our firearms and be done with it once and for all. It’s in our best interest to listen and obey Obama.

The NRA must use the same language used in the media in order to be consistent. Otherwise they would have to waste air time explaining that high cap mags are actuallt standard cap mags. Its besides the point. Only us gun people care. The masses will just be annoyed.

  6. The reason they didn’t use “standard capacity magazine” is because that’s not an actual term used within the industry or in legal circles. It is something used by the internet gun culture almost exclusively. It has come to the point where it is so common that we eat our young for not using the term but it isn’t any more or less correct than “high capacity magazine”. More importantly, outside the gun forums most people aren’t stuck on what any particular part, piece, or feature of a firearm is called. We can fight with one another and make fun of someone saying “clip” rather than “magazine” and “high-capacity” rather than “standard capacity” but doing so doesn’t do anything to advance our cause.

The term “high capacity” is used to vilify the fact there are magazines that are manufactured which hold less, and in the minds of people who think guns are only killing machines that’s better because less people will die. You’re right no one used to call 30 round AR magazines “high capacity”, I’m not quite sure how reinforcing the fact 30 rounds is standard isn’t “doing anything to advance our cause.”

  7. The actual statement is is here.

The thing about passing a gun confiscation law is who is going to enforce it?

If LEO shows up on your doorstep, especially unexpectedly, the first thing to ask is what are my Miranda rights. After they Mirandize you, then ask for a lawyer. If they want to search, refuse consent, and ask to see a search warrant. If they can’t produce either, then tell them to get off your property.

If they show up shooting, fire back. You are in fear of your life via the castle doctrine. Just because they have a uniform doesn’t mean they can execute you.
