FPS Russia Show And Prove – Shittiness Of The UTS-15 Shotgun

1 out of 3 shotguns works properly… not bad right? hahah :|

Hickok45 did a long review on this shotgun a while back, and it just looks overly complicated.

FPS-RussiaLucky for the manufacturer, most of FPS Russia’s viewers are teenage Cawad00dy nerds, so I’m sure this embarassment will just get swept under the rug for the most part.

Thoughts? Running out to buy a UTS-15?

I haven’t handled one yet but from all the video’s I’ve watched it seems that they are fairly hard to pump and very intollerant to short stroking which is a bad combination. Add to that the manual of arms is way different with this shotgun so I’m not surprised to see problems. My idea of the shotgun in a self defense role is something light, very quick on target and natural pointing, and as idiot proof as you can make it. IMO all these “high capacity” shotguns are getting away from the natural advantages of a shotgun.

    1. I don’t know man, aside from the “holy crap this is taking a century to reload” style magazine, the KSG seems to do the job well enough. Of course, that’s slightly offset by having what, 13 rounds? Still, I get what you’re saying.

And for further lolz, Nutnfancy put the KSG through a ringer. The thing sucks. Thoroughly.

      1. ***Correction*** that last part should say “UTS-15”. The top paragraph is about the KSG :)

I really wanted to like the UTS-15, but it isn’t looking so good. The compactness and extra capacity seemed like big plusses. The extra weight, bulk, and height of the gun seemed like the downsides. The thing doesn’t seem that fast to shoot either (but then I probably shouldn’t use FPS Russia as the benchmark for running a gun efficiently).

The first hint should have been when they sent him three of the same shotgun to test (not alot of faith in their gun). Would have been nice if he described how the thing broke, instead of just saying it broke. I guess for the COD fans saying “this gun bad” is enough to scare them off, or maybe not if the gun looks cool enough.

  2. I’d buy it over kel-tec.

I’ve been playing Call of Duty since it came out on the PC and call of duty finest hour on the original xbox..and I’m an “old” gamer (31 years old).

Not a fan of Kyle or his FPS videos. They run in the same vein as “nutnfancy”..which is just plain annoying and not worth the time. Fat guy and ancient guy doing 20 minutes of bitching/whining youtube videos are about the same as the previous 2 youtube “celebrities”.

  3. Seems like every review I’ve seen for the UTS-15 shows a malfunction of some sort. But the KSG had some serious problems too that were fixed in the new version. Hopefully the UTS-15 will see the same improvement.

I bought a UTS-15 a while back and initially had a problem with the selector switch breaking off because it was originally made of plastic and was generally a poor design. However, I was able to send it back to the factory and they repaired it 100% free of charge. For an additional $80, they were also able to make all the changes to my UTS-15 that had come out since it was originally released. This helped to solve most of the maintenance issues.

I wish we (as the gun culture) could sweep the embarrassment that is FPS Russia under the rug along with this shotgun.

    1. Hear, Hear. If I ever hear “Hello, my friends” coupled with that little twist of the neck and that shit eating grin again….i’m going to have a panic attack.

Him and Joe Biden are full of good shotgun advice.

  7. Wwwhooowww, who is on a diet? Looks like he lost a lot of weight. Skeletor look does not suit him.

Nutnfancy did an entire review of pure slamage on this shotgun, if you can stand the video length you’ll see how thorough he describes all of the inferior qualities of the weapon.

Call me antiquated but I prefer a pump or semi-auto with a 26″ barrel and a bead sight and a ventilated rib over all of this tacticoolery, Saigas included. I want a shotgun that I can hunt and shoot clays with, is well balanced and ergonomic, and that does not make me look like a d-bag at the clays range. A good hunting style shotgun is so much more practical.

    1. Try going around a hallway corner or clearing a room with a 26″ barrel next time you hear a loud noise in your house at night. I promise you will change your mind.

        SBS. ;)

    2. It’s a tactical shotgun…the manufacturer did not design this weapon with rabbits, squirrels and deer in mind. Tactical operations, combat and home defense is the purpose of this weapon design. If you want to shoot clay targets and/or hunt animals then of course a 26″ barrel would be my preference as well.

I’ve owned my UTS-15 for about six months and I’ve put over 500 2 3/4″ rounds in both rapid fire and standard target shooting and the weapons has performed flawlessly.

For those that have experienced “short stroke” issues, I’ll guarantee it’s a personal problem, not an issue with the weapon itself. I’ve have yet to expereinc an issue due to short stroke.

Like any other weapon, your individual use of that weapons determines your success and your overall impression of the weapon, With the UTS-15, I use the weapon the way it was designed. Tactical shooting…ie., movement and target engagement, standoff and movement etc. Of all tactical shotguns I have operated the UTS-15 is the most efficient for these purposes.

  10. uts = ugly turkish shyt

  11. Ill stick to my Remington 870 and Benelli M4

  12. P.S. – Turks have a very relevant military and arms design history. They design and build their own F16s and a variety of small arms.

Additionally, having worked hand in hand with their SAT/SAS and Maroon Berets, I can attest to their amazing fighting prowess and military heritage. One of the craziest experiences I’ve seen them do is when they were doing pistol shooting. They took turns standing next to the target silhouettes and their teammates shot at the targets…at some distance. They’re good at what they do. Their camouflage tradecraft is also second to none. They’ve won or placed top three in many international SF/SpecOps competitions. I was also impressed at their use of Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and other mixed martial arts…waaaay before any of the more well-known teams started using and designing MACP, MCMAP, etc…ala Matt Larsen and others. These are some hardcore vicious dudes. It was an honor to train with them. We exchanged some great training strategies and some good swag.

Like I said, this is my experience with their teams. They’re very good guys to boot. I really enjoyed my time at Egridir Dag ve Komando Okulu. I picked up the language and a bit of a taste for their awesome food. I highly recommend paying Istanbul a visit if you get a chance. Good people, good food, huge partiers to boot! You guys gotta try the Raki drink. It’s like Anise. It looks like water but when you add water to it, it turns a wild smoke or cloudy color. Tastes like licorice. Good shit though!

    Good guys. KOMANDO YENILMEZ!!

    Hint: Ottoman Empire.

  13. I’ve owned my uts15 for about 6 months and have put a couple hundred shells through it. I have had zero issues. I chose this over the kel tec because the kel tec is impossible to find and the uts will alternate fire from each chamber automatically. It’s short, light weight, and looks like something from robocop. It’s an amazing weapon. I am kind of hoping someone makes a 20 gauge tactical shotgun so my 110lb wife could shoot it.

  14. Got my uts today after 3 months waiting and it made 13 rounds and the weld that holds the foregrip to the barrel on both sides broke off on both sides

    1. Ryder Heim Avatar

mine did this too. it was a problem that has occured in about 100 guns so far. Its a pain but is covered under warranty :)

  15. You’re right, UTAS has been improving this gun as people find problems. Watch the newer reviews, and you’ll see very few problems. UTAS did a pretty good video at Shot Show this year that goes through the gun–pretty good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kcM4McX0i0

  16. I used to think that I wanted Hugh Hefner’s life, But now I want the FPS Russian’s life. Great job!

Hey all, Just reading some of the comments on here. Im a proud owner of a UTS-15. Im not about to give the gun spectacular reviews because… well lets face it, its currently sitting in three pices. That being said, its actually a very forgiving gun to shoot… when its not breaking. The pump action is actually very easy to action. It doesnt like short strokes but very rarely jams on me. yes loading takes a little while, but hopefully after letting loose a 15 round barrage you shouldnt have a rush to reload. The problems ive encountered have all been redeveloped. The UTS 15 you buy now is actually ery different than even the one i bought less than a year ago. Also UTAS recignizes the defects and has extended the warranties on all guns until the bugs are worked out. For min the magazine tube selector broke off. not the end of the world, but i cant select which tube to feed from. The more fatal issue is the welds hoding the barrell to the magazine tube retainer broke causing the gun to fall apart in my hands. This issue has arisin in about 100 guns and the barrell will be replaced under warranty. this happened after putting through about 60 slugs in quick succesion. both 2 3/4″ as well as 3″ magnum rounds. it finally gave out while shhoting skeets… maybe 80 shots in. All damage has been repaired and it feels like an all new gun. its a beaut with proper reinforceents and redesignes all over.

  18. This is a perfect example of how junk gets on usa market and establishes it self making wring people wealthy!

  19. Not sure why your’s didn’t but mine rocks. No issues once you know what ammo to avoid and how to operate…well I do wish it had a blast plate. Not entirely happy about all that violence happening mere millimeters from my face.

  20. I don’t watch any of HiCock’s stuff. But that’s another story. So, I watched that nutnfancy “review” of the UtS-15. I really tried hard to watch it and pick up some good info. But all it really amounted to was an hour long rant about…something, everything. Got old quick and I couldn’t take it anymore…back button. I was curious because I own a UTS-15 and am totally happy with it. He bashed the Kel-Tec PMR30 too. Funny, it’s one of my favorite pistols. Everyone I let shoot it loves the pistol. So I guess we’re down to opinions…or something. The difference is that I presented mine without whining for an hour. FWIW.
