Moms Demand Keeping M4′s Out Of Kids Hands

From Mom’s Demand Action… The same group that demonized the AR-15 in slow motion:

Moms-Demand-Gun-Bans-Little-Red-Ridinghood

Moms-Demand-Gun-Bans-Dodgeball

Moms-Demand-Gun-Bans-Kinder-Egg

So as you can see the kids got their hands on an M4 not and AR-15 somehow (identifiable by the additional hole in the lower receiver above the fire selector switch).  In addition two out of three of them have terrible trigger discipline, which may or may not have been staged that way on purpose.  Cool looking pictures… weak message.

Since when are “assault weapons” violent on their own?

This might be my imagination… but does anyone else think it looks like magazine wasn’t seated properly in order to make it look longer than it actually is?

The little girl in picture #1 is the most badass.  That thousand yard stare is intense.

Considering no 8-12 year old kid (I’m assuming that’s the age range of these) hasn’t ever shot up a school (as far as I know) then the whole OMG A KID HOLDING AN ASSAULT RIFLE WITH A HIGH CAPACITY ASSAULT CLIP READY TO KILL PEOPLE message they were going to falls really short.

Thoughts?

  1. I find it hilarious and infuriating that these ads have no problem with bans on books, sports and chocolates. That’s the reasonable thing? I reject your assumptions, Moms Demand Action. Ultimately, the ad makes me conclude the opposite. If the AR is legal, why the hell isn’t Little Red Riding Hood? A bottle of wine? Are you serious? A kid needs to be protected from a drawing of a bottle of wine in a picnic basket? What kind of nutcase overprotective parents are you?

    1. Welcome to modern education in America… where if kids get bad grades, the parents blame the teacher and the school. Not the kid.

Exactly, John. After reading only the first one, my thought was, “Why not? Because the existence of one stupid rule is not justification for the creation of another.”

Neither Little Red Riding Hood nor dodgeball should be banned. I don’t know what a Kinder egg is,but I’m guessing it shouldn’t be either.

      1. kinder egg is chocolate with a toy inside. FDA doesnt like the toy inside part. If the toy was in the box beside it it would be fine. If i remember correctly.

        1. You’re right. They are concerned that some kid might bite the egg and swallow the toy. Yet you don’t hear about European kids choking to death from Kinder Eggs.

I find it appauling that parents are going to out raged by the NRA going after the Presidents kids about gun control BUT they are using their own kids to represent their libralism causes. Hippocrates much!?!?!?

    4. We still have dodgeball in schools here in Oregon, I read ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ to some first graders a few years ago with no objections, and Kinder eggs are sold at the local import store so this entire campaign is bullshit. Also none of those kids can legally own or bring those guns to school so the point is irrelevant.

    5. Anton Avatar

That is the point, John. Things that should not be banned are banned, and things that should be banned aren’t.

    6. +1 I totally missed the message at first. I thought they were pointing out the absurdity of the other items that had been banned.

They missed the mark with this ad. I am more focused on the rediculousness of the things that have been banned…probably at the request of the same groups…

If by “same groups” you mean reactionary nincompoops who want themselves and their children coddled from cradle to grave, so that nobody has to experience anything negative…you’re probably correct.

If you’ll excuse me, I think I’m going to be sick now.

That’s exactly what I get out of it. One of my friends posted the one about the Kinder Egg on FB and my reply was “Ridiculous. End the ban on Kinder Eggs immediately.”

  5. One thing not mentioned in these ads is that none of these things are banned on a national level. Maybe at the city or state level, but most likely just a specific school or community. They are trying to ban “Assault Weapons” at the national level when they already are banned in several cities/states.

    1. CR Pyro Avatar

In the context of the pictures, aren’t weapons generally banned in schools already on a federal level? Or are “Gun & Drug Free” zones based on smaller jurisdictions?

Since when is it legal to bring an AR15 into a school in any case?

Chocolate eggs, playing dodgeball and Little Red Riding Hood are legal outside of the school also. I wonder which schools have banned these items.

Actually the Kinder Eggs are federally illegal.

      1. Since 1938.

The 1938 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act contains a section highlighting that a confectionery product with a non-nutritive object, partially or totally imbedded within it, cannot be sold within the United States, unless the FDA issues a regulation that the non-nutritive object has functional value.[11] Essentially, the 1938 Act bans “the sale of any candy that has imbedded in it a toy or trinket

        1. I see kinder eggs for sale at my local italian grocery stores and gas stations all the time.

Exactly. Some one either broke the law by bringing the gun on to school property or a LEO misused their position to do so… then handed their duty gun over to a minor.

  14. Interesting thing about these adds:

    1. That particular rifle *is* an assault rifle, and is already banned without going through a very in depth background check and paying your federal stamp and paying a huge amount for the rifle. That particular rifle isn’t even what they are trying to get banned. The old bait and switch.

    2. The kids holding the guns are ‘white kids’, and we have to *not* be racists and pass these bans before the other kids (all minorities) get hurt. (eye-roll) Give me a break.

  17. Someone should make a poster with police officers armed with wiffle bats and dodge balls on one side, asking the viewer which officer they want showing up to their house when they call 911 over a home invasion/burglary/psycho breaking the door down.

    1. Ya, good point…I have a neighbor that was burgularized and now he (a grown man) drives past his home, turns around, and then drives into his own driveway before going inside. A year later and he is frightened to even enter his own driveway. When asked if he had a gun, he stated “oh, no, we dont believe in guns… I have a bat in every room.” I told him that the first time he is faced with a mean home invader, he had one good swing, then the invader would use the bat on him! He thought that I was totally out of my mind……go figure…….some people are stupid to the point of default! So, every day, he drives past his own home..still fearful that “someone” may be inside….what a weenie!

  20. I’ve been banned from their FB and my comment deleted almost immediately for pointing out that moms got all of those things (books, dodge ball etc) BANNED IN THE FIRST PLACE. they are good at banning things that go against their illogical ideals

  21. As others have pointed out…firearms are (largely) banned from schools already.

As for the “rifle” pictured. FWIW, it’s actually an airsoft gun. Which is why the mag looks too long, why there is a shallow hole where the flat side of the selector switch should be, and why the round hand guard is too large in diameter.

    1. The newer “M4” style handguards are in fact thicker like the ones shown in the ad. I have a few spares lying around. That firearm looks like it very much is a completely real M4. Functional? I don’t know. But it probably ain’t a toy.

    2. I have an airsoft M4 and the assault magazine clipping thingies aren’t as long as pictured. they should be the same size as the real thing. that’s why they are called “replicas”. to be fair, i’m from Europe and haven’t handled a firearm so i could be wrong.
it could be an AEG because the pistol grip in picture #3 looks as if not hollow, and that’s where the motor goes in an AEG.
and, banning kinder surprise eggs? i didn’t know that. i’ve heard about children biting the plastic egg inside, hmm….let me see…never.

I have no doubt that’s an AEG magazine. They are larger then the real thing. I own both.

Yes, it is not the gun itself that is dangerous but the person but still, being able to purchase guns despite a persons physical or mental state is ridiculous. THink of what would happen if someone who was not in a safe mental state was to get their hands on a gun? it would be disasterous and the sad part is that these people CAN get their hands on guns. Think of all the people that have died because of these ridiculous laws? there has been around 500. im not saying guns should be banned but at least they should have laws in place to prevent dangerous people buying them.

This definitely looks staged even the fingers on the triggers. The group that made this, if it was done in a school at this time should be arrested for taking weapons into the school and letting the kids hold them in an inappropriate way.

  42. Wow…some ignorant Jackass is responsible for THIS advertising…not gun safety being practiced here. I mean, kids with their fingers ON the trigger…clearly a BS liberal scare tactic. And Little Red Riding Hood has NOT been banned in ALL schools…only in states where LIBERALS rule the roost…same with dodgeball…which we still play here in my state…
And the phrase “Assault Rifle” is only used by ignorant people…there is NO SUCH weapons classification! PERIOD! It is a made up term. People die being stabbed to death with forks or beaten to death with spatulas (according to the FBI statistics) and we do not classify those as “assault forks” or “assault spatulas”. Call it a rifle. Call it a gun.
Welcome to the United States of America…where it is lawful to OWN a gun. Law abiding citizens who own guns and operate them safely every day should not be punished or suffer because the FEW make poor choices and choose to take lives with guns. People kill others with bats, knives, and cars but we do not rush to ban those…why not? Because you are using your ignorance, emotion and FEAR to interject into the gun argument. STOP and address the FACTS. You will find that we are safer with guns than without them! There is a reason the Constitution of the United States Protects my RIGHT to bear arms…and if it doesn’t apply to modern weaponry, than neither does your first Amendment Right apply to phones, email, television, voice recordings, Federal Mail, etc.
Educate yourselves on weaponry…and stop fear-mongering! It does nothing…Instead of yelling louder, improve your argument!

According to this logic, I can’t buy a copy of Little Red Riding Hood anywhere in the United sSates. Nor can I buy a dodgeball or find a place to play dodgeball. Nor can I buy a chocolate egg without delving into some shady Easter-candy underworld. But I can get an AR-15 anytime I want, right?

Or not, if you live in California, New York, Maryland or Connecticut.

But maybe they’re only talking about what certain schools have banned. After all, certain schools run by liberals have banned dodgeball (too violent) and chocolate eggs (bad for your health) but I can’t think of any school anywhere that allows kids to bring AR-15s to the classroom.

There’s a fine line between clever and stupid. This is stupid.

  45. Um… the kids look to be IN a school. Firearms are illegal in k-12 schools unless in the possession of law enforcement. Maybe the Moms who staged this need to be brought up on charges for bringing firearms onto school property (unless this is just a Hollywood stage, of course)

This is probably because I’m Canadian (and we have VERY strict gun laws) but I don’t see why people are bitching about this add. What does an assault rifle add to your life? You don’t need it for hunting or really…anything.

And yes in canada we have dodgeball, kinder eggs and red riding hood. And thanks to very strict gun laws, we don’t have many shootings, the recent one in new brunswick aside. That guy was a loon.

  48. Anthony Avatar

I think most of you are missing how simple this ad is based on your own views of the subject. My wife and I are unable to have children so coming from an un-bias opinion most of the comments being made are how everyone thinks they are focused on the bans of simple products, not their focus ding dong but a point that for the most part these pretty simple and harmless items made some people so upset they got banned yet presenting a very real and what seems to becoming a more commen event taking place in the schools today and it will again before red riding hood is burned with at the stake for being so evil or how dodgeball creates the next bully or bloody nose. Even if the kinder egg was never banned I can say with 100% confidence that the total death toll of these peoples children would not even amount to the death toll of any of these school shootings, same goes for all the other insignificant item being compared to the weapons. For those who are talking about how they are just being hippocrates, you never know your childs school could be next to see this type of event and if it was to happen to you and your family lets see how fast you become a hippocrate, but that is the overall problem right, talk down to these women for losing their children to this violence as they try to make a difference to save yours, maybe they should take all your advice and just give up im sure a few in this blog will end up on the otherside someday, they should wait until you have to join them…. should be thankful ads like these are even being made I’m sure it’s made a difference in some childs life already. So until it happens to you, keep up your great point of views.

    1. Anthony:

Saying you are not biased is a non-starter as is your reasoning behind making such a claim.

Saying (with 100% confidence) that school children die in higher numbers from 1 school shooting than all the other things you mentioned is also a non-starter. Show me your facts?

You talk about hypocrites and basically say that if your child was killed in one of these shootings that you would become anti-gun/anti-rights. I don’t think that is true, although that is the narrative that many anti-gunners try to present. But didn’t you say you couldn’t have children? So how can you make such assumptions? Another non-starter. Who are you to presume to know how everyone will react?

The nanny-state is in full force…you say we are talking down to women even as they try to save our children? How do you come to such a conclusion? There is a huge difference in how to deal with these problems Anthony…and suspending children for eating their pop-tart, “into a gun” doesn’t cut it. The whole knee-jerk rights-stripping reactions often associated with these events are huge problems typically devoid of logic and reason. They tend to fail miserably as people segway away from their emotional state and look at things from a factual level.

No, I am not thankful that these ads are being made. They are shameful.

  49. Well it says “one of these is banned in America” which is already not true, BOTH are banned in SCHOOLS, but you can play dodge ball, read red little red riding hood and of course buy firearms.

  50. Did anyone tell these kids that they shouldn’t have their finger on the trigger unless they are trying to shoot something. All I’m concerned about here is that these kids could become hospitalized in a matter of seconds if they accidentally tap the trigger.

  51. i find it stupid for these kids to be holding onto the gun’s trigger while their parents are watching them and worrying. This person who let these kids hold the guns like that you need to learn the hunter’s law. search it and rethink what could have just happened to the kids in the ad.

Be careful what you do with guns next time please so i don’t have to tell other people about this.

One of the most obtuse ads I have ever viewed.
To say it is elementary school stupid would be a compliment.

  54. A rifle isn’t a toy, it’s not a game, or a book. To compare these things is ridiculous, you could do the same thing with anything potentially dangerous, they aren’t meant for children to use in schools
