Best Handgun For Self Defense

Aaargo Jay explores the topic in song.  haha just kidding, he doesn’t sing but he does talk:

When someone asks me what gun they should buy, before they even finish their sentence I yell “GLOCK!”, then they are like “But what if th…” me: “GLOCK! I don’t have time for this shit.”

Aaargo-Jay-YouTubeIn all seriousness Aaargo Jay’s advice is better than mine; you really should try out a bunch and see what works best for you before you buy.  The advice seems obvious, but It’s surprising how many people discover guns years later that they like better because they didn’t look around enough at the beginning.  Even continuing to try new guns that come out doesn’t hurt.

You can grab the Run Guns t-shirt Jay is wearing over at ENDO Apparel. It’s also available in black.

  1. I worked in a shop for a couple years, and I can’t tell you how many people thought that was just a pitch. We did have a range attached with (naturally) some of our most popular selling guns for rent, and having been there and done that (buyer’s remorse), I always suggested folks rent a gun or two that handled well off the range before they go and spend ~$500, then get it out on the range to find they hate how it shoots. Generally, though, I found the gun that felt comfy shot well.

Spending $50 to rent a couple guns and shoot them on a range, or getting a buddy a case of beer, or finding someone nice on the range to lend a gun to test to see if you like a gun is better than spending however much money on something, only to find you liked something else more from the start.

      +1

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen someone buy a gun without trying it, usually because someone else told them it was a good idea, only to find out they hate it once they take it to the range and/or can’t shoot it to save their lives.

    2. That’s always my advice too when someone asks me as well. The best analogy I’ve used that non-firearms people type relate to is test driving different cars before buying.

  2. “worst feeling in the world…I felt like I was dying!”

that’s either the best weed ever, or the worst weed ever

    1. holy shit, haha commented on the wrong video

  3. I’m a fan of Kimber, but I have “gorilla” hands and a waist to match. I had a P-11 but it was so uncomfortable for me I sold it at a loss to my mother.

Try before you buy is such smart advice.

Thats probably because some shmuck said

“GLOCK! I don’t have time for this shit.”

When they were looking for advice.

Sound advice. I bought a gun I had wanted for years just because I thought it was awesome based on the features. 1000 rounds later and I hated the thing. Sold it, went to the range and tried out 4 more before I settled on the one I liked.

  6. A Marlins hat Jay? Even the Marlins players don’t want to wear Marlins gear.
