Treating Gun Owners Like Rapists – Geo Marker Trolls Hard

Not sure if serious.  Currently only available on Android devices…

Gun-Geo-Marker-App-Google-Play

The Gun Geo Marker app, released to Google’s Play app store on July 7, invites users to mark the homes and businesses of “suspected unsafe gun owners … to help others in the area learn about their geography of risk from gun accidents or violence.

Full Story – Fox News

ROFL “suspected gun owners”.  If this app actually becomes popular I really hope all pro gun people with compatible devices download it and hammer the app by submitting random bullshit locations of suspected gun owners, just to make the information already more useless than it already is.

Gun-Geo-Marker-App-LogoYou can check out the Gun Geo Marker page in the Google Play store.  I have a few Android devices, but I’d rather stare at paint drying than spend even a second right now in an app so useless.  Another reason I suspect this to be a troll app is because it came out first for Android, and the user interface looks like complete shit.  Who does that?  haha.  I’m sure the iPhone version will be release any day now, much to the joy of anti-gun hipsters everywhere.

My main question is, what would someone that is very afraid / paranoid of firearms do with the information in this app?  Boycot gun-owner run businesses?  Plan daily life around staying at least 100 yards away from all gun owner’s houses?  Both options are equally retarded and hardly feasible.

A positive outcome of this app (if the geo-marked information is accurate) may be finding yourself some more range friends that live close by.

Hopefully it would give the criminals a good insight to which houses around me are safer to break into and make me a little bit more asshole proof. I mean if white shirt mormons on bikes avoid my house because of this app, or salesmen, then it would actually be doing me a favor!

Maybe I can avoid having to tell that guy in the pickup truck with a freezer full of meat that I am not interested for the 50th time this year.

      How to spoof the app:

Install a GPS location faker app from the android store (search for Fake GPS Location)
Set your location to you most favorite antigun hot spot
Use the app to tag it

  2. Just went through the reviews. less then 15 reviews between 2 and 4 stars, 40-ish 5-star, and 1,900+ 1-star reviews. More than half of the 5 star reviews are amateur trolls or “MARKING EVERY HOUSE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!” I think this app has fallen cleanly on its ass.

This hit TTAG a few days ago, so I’ve been playing around with it since then. It’s not terribly easy to “flood it with false data,” as you’re only allowed one report per day. Also, you can’t punch in an address, you have to be AT a location to report that location. So if you had a creepy neighbor with lots of guns and you wanted to add him, you’d basically have to stand in front of his house for the minute or two it took to make the report. That sounds safe.

It’s only been out for a week or so, that graph on the Play Store page that says 5000-10000 installs was only at 1-5 when I installed my copy on the 7th. I have yet to see any locations marked anywhere in or around Orlando.

The comments on the Google Play store are pretty damn funny, though. A couple of my favorites:

“This app pleases my libtard senses. I can locate babby killing high capacity assult clips that kill mah chilluns. Im also on welfare cuz my babby neexs food. Obama 2016 hur dur.”

“I used this app to determine if my jogging route was safe, the app told me there were no guns nearby and I got robbed at gunpoint.”

This app’s motto should be: See something, say something. Even if you didn’t see shit. LOL

Typical passive aggressive anti-gunner horse shit. Luckily people like us got a hold of this and ran it into the ground. Who knows what could have happened if the intended audience attempted to use this.

Florida Law, I would advise not using this app in FL.

If I cared about the app, too many 1 stars, then I’d add every police station, court house, and jail to it.

  10. My first thought was to enter anti gun businesses into it…

Across the street from my office is a new multi story building with people going in an out with guns during all hours of the day or night. Some of them are even in paramilitary uniforms. I see police cars there all the time so they must be up to no good. Go ahead, google 315 S Santa Rosa Ave, San Antonio, TX and you will see what I mean.

    1. Im going to take a wild guess and say its a police station.

  13. Man, the reviews in the app store are trolling this app hard. I’ve never had so much fun reading app reviews. Of course, I’m rating the trolliest reviews as helpful.

This app is pretty fun. Frighten criminals with unique messages. Like: “HIV infected hemophiliac emo lives here with his homosexual lover named Todd. They’re into BDSM. penile hooks, and vampires.” ROFL

Couldn’t a criminal use this app to potentially know what houses to rob if they were looking to steal guns while the owner was out? Thats really Fuckin’ scary.

  16. What I would do is stop along the highway, or find the middle of a back road in the middle of nowhere and report in. Let them freak out on that.

Let’s look at it this way.

Say they made an app that allows users to flag houses where the owners are known to own very expensive cars in their garage, or are known to have a safe holding money in their home. Or worse yet, an app that shows houses where the family has an 18 year old virgin daughter living at home.

Wouldn’t one say those types of apps would be an invasion of privacy and infringe on our constitutional rights? How does this gun app differ?

      From that page:

Past projects include Landscape Painting as Counter-Surveillance of Area 51, a collaborative site-specific performance at the border of the well known secret air base. As part of that performance, he instigated an investigation of his activities by the Department of Defense and the FBI after he spammed a large number of unpublished email addresses at Nellis Air Force Base.
