Small Child Pulls Trigger On Cop’s Glock And It Delivers Lead

Ban assault kids!

Lodi, CA — A Lodi Police SWAT officer had a Glock 35 with a flashlight in his thigh holster at a children’s reading event when a boy managed to pull the trigger and shoot the officer.

Full Story – CBS

1:24 – “We don’t know if it was accidental or intentional”  <— LOL I’d die if that kid was like “Yea, I wanted to shoot the gun and I knew he wouldn’t let me so I pulled the trigger”

1:27 – “Police say since the gun was in a holster to accommodate the attached flashlight, the trigger was more accessible”  – What kind of a garbage drop leg holster has an open trigger area?  I expect more from someone in law enforcement.

Kids-Gun-Safety-Boise-Idaho

I wish there was video footage of the incident so I could overlay CCR – Lodi “OHHHHH lord, shot in Lodi again”

Even though no one got hurt, they need to get to the bottom of the reason for the negligent discharge (negligence on the police officers behalf… not the kid’s) though because it could have been a lot worse.

Thoughts?

At least it went bang every time ;)

That kid has a great story to tell his grand children one day.

…why question the kid and parents?!?! shouldn’t they find out why the hell the officer let anyone fool around on his pistol?

“We don’t know if it was accidental or intentional” has got to be one of the stupidest remarks ever by a LE spokesman. What the hell is a swat van doing at a children’s reading fair anyway? They think they are Firemen or something?

  4. DIDN’T HAVE A SAFETY OH NO!

Shouldn’t the possessor be the safety?

  5. The officer needs to get a new, better fitting holster.

  6. —I can’t believe I just heard this asshole say that they needed to harrass the child and parents to establish intent?!?

    1. The officer was in decked out SWAT gear for….the children? WHY THE FUCK are SWAT teams doing anything in close proximity to children? This remeinds me of the recent article I read in which a child was intentionally shot with a taser gun because he didn’t want to help wash a pigs car.
    2. The officer has no idea how a weapon should fit in a holster?
    3. This LOSER says that they need to question the parents and child…to see what the intentions were? Punch yourself in the face repeatedly asshole.
    4. The pistol does have a safety. What’s that little thing sticking out on the trigger? Not a safety right?
    5. This is the adults fault. This is squarely blamed on the retarded SWAT knucklehead. Furthermore, whoever decided it would be a great idea to throw these two groups together should be immediately fired.

  7. “What kind of a garbage drop leg holster has an open trigger area?”

It’s not open simply that the sides aren’t molded tight against the trigger guard. The light has to pass through the trigger area to get to it’s final resting place in the holster. Thus the trigger area has to be as wide as the light, which allows small fingers, and other items to get into the trigger guard area in some cases. It’s not a huge deal as long as someone open carrying (like say a police officer) such a holster maintains awareness of people around him.

Anyways I’ve noticed this on well known quality brands like Safariland, and Raven Concealment.

    1. Seems most plausible.

I can’t imagine a Swat team not issuing Safariland 6004s to their officers….

  8. A propaganda event gone wrong. That kid is, unfortunately, not going to be able to live this down.

If the guy is HSLD enough to carry a g35 over a g22 or something, why is he dicking around with kids and not out OPERATING in OPERATIONS with other OPERATORS?

Also, obligatory “C’mon news team; quit showing anything but the weapon you’re naming…” I guess at least it was a glock…

  10. This dishonest police spokesman (who did all he could to avoid painting the officer as being grossly negligent) and the inept media who could have taken 5 minutes of time to do minimal research to discover that all cops in that department (and the whole state) utilize level 3 retention holsters that absolutely cover the trigger (name a holster that doesn’t!)(I have a level 2 safariland drop leg holster that’s fitted for weapon light and it surely covers the trigger). THat gun clearly was not in the holster or that inept cop didn’t have it seated all the way in..regardless, he LET a child get to his loaded duty weapon and fire it…that put everyone in the room at risk and the douche should be canned, period.

    1. The Safariland 6360 and 6378 can allow a finger to enter the triggerguard. Here’s a video demonstrating it

  12. 1. It is good to have children meet law enforcement and understand what they do on a daily basis. Yes, even SWAT or Narcotics units.

    2. Small fingers can get into small spaces.

    3. The officer should have been paying more attention. He probably didn’t expect something like that could happen and so he didn’t consider any of the kids touching him to be a threat. BECAUSE THEY AREN’T A THREAT. He should have gently explained that it is improper, impolite, and unsafe to grab or touch someone’s gun without permission. His mistake. He paid for it.

    4. The kid will never stick his finger into something he doesn’t understand ever again. His future relationships will suffer the most. See what I did there.

    5. I hope they do not find the kid because I am unconvinced they will not try to cast blame on the child to cover THEIR mistake.

    6. I wish the media would spend a little time researching topics before they speak.

    1. Question is, why was he in fire-ready condition when he knew he was going to be interacting with kids? School shooters? We all know those would just turn around and come back another day when they could get a bodycount instead of getting instakilled by SWAT…

      Poor planning, poor execution.

  13. I think i know what officer got hit…

Youngsters Yanking Triggers (to the tune of Showbiz & AG – “Next Level, DJ Premier remix”)

I’m a young blood coming up in life, monkey ass, can’t keep my fingers clenched tight
SWAT showed me their knife, and road spikes, funny how they wear black, it’s reflective at night
Proliferation bought the wrong holster, now he’ll hear it from his wife, she loves to fight
Another Plaxico moment, giving Glocks an undeserved rep, it gets a bad name
Pulled the trigger, thought it was a game, why does a child get the blame
Ask me about my shame, unintended consequence of a holster not fitting a Glock frame
Learned my lesson, limping SWAT officer, hot nurses dressing the wounds, nurse I’m in a lot of pain
Excuses, best rack he’s ever seen, maybe she’ll stay the night in his room, broom closet just the same
Parents made me pay up, by washing dishes, bad cop no donut, excessive force on a trigger
Might cause a divorce, it’s a moment, of stupidity, that can teach me, what I need to be
Growing up in a world where schools blame inanimate objects,
when they fail to explain, anything about pistols and hot lead, doctor pass the clamp and forceps,
surgically running things, they’ve fucked up the perception of things that go boom
and bump in the night, it’s a tough question, seeing a witch like DiFi legislating all night
Now I’m back in school, we got a field trip to the zoo, saw Bloomberg there, he was caged too
Next time I see somebody, putting their fingers in a trap that’s deadly
I’m gonna say, learn from this mistake, kid shot a SWAT officer the other day
not his fault, he was just trying to play, stupid journalistic bitch, can’t explain my trigger finger itch
but the time will come, when I’ll get my own gun, leave the light off, tactical excess gets me stressed
Surefire wrist light, automatic on, it’s possessed, but SWAT got blessed, he’s overdressed
Guy won’t show his face in Budapest, embarrassed by his puffed up chest, ego deflated
he’ll keep his trigger covered, wrecked, sometimes experience can learn best, check your hatred
at the door, preteen chicks saw him hit the floor, when I carved my score on the grips, crowds demand more….

    LMFAO

  17. For a guy who writes a gun blog, you are pretty ignorant. EVERY light bearing holster allows access to the trigger on a holstered pistol. It is impossible to make a holster that completely covers the trigger and still allows you to holster a pistol with an attached light. I have several safariland ALS holsters for a Glock with a mounted Surefire x300 which allow my fingers into the holster far enough that I could pull the trigger.

Maybe you should get to the range more instead of making fun of those who do.

LOL that’s probably the greatest attempt at an insult I’ve had someone comment to me in a while. Nice work. I apologize for not being up on holster technology. My ignorance has me focused on other industries.
