Recording The Sounds For Splinter Cell Blacklist

Poofy microphones and video game operators maximize realness:

Doesn’t even look like they put any paper targets up!  WTF?  I know it was supposed to be “work” recording the sounds, but you’d think they could at least not just shoot the berm.

2:51 – Sphincter Cell? hahah

Ugh I want one of those Honey Badgers so bad… so badass looking.

Splinter-Cell-BlacklistSince I don’t follow games like some of you guys do, what’s the verdict on the Splinter Cell franchise?  I played Rainbow 6 back in the day and thought it was pretty good.

You can pick Splinter Cell up for $60 over at Amazon.

Thoughts?

It used to be a pretty solid series, Chaos Theory and Pandora Tomorow where some of my favs when I was younger.

Don’t know about the recent ones but Ubisoft usually has it’s shit together.

It does make me happy to see this. When Left 4 Dead came out my friends were like “you gotta play this zombie shooter game!” And when I tired it all the guns had this close quarters inside a range echo, no mater if you we’re in a ruined apartment complex, or an empty field. Really people? You spend millions making a game, make millions of it, and can’t spend a day outside running some audio?

Definitely worth playing, rewards a player for using their brain, rather than the run and gun of FPS games.
You can do run and gun, but you’ll be dead very quickly.

Speaking from experience, worrying about targetry and safety downrange would only take up valuable time needed fit the laundry list of firearms and different length bursts/shot sequences required for the typical game. And you gain nothing from punching holes in paper when the objective is to capture as many sounds as possible in as short a time as possible. Time=money.

I like the part where the big guy shooting what appears to be an m16 needs shoulder support from another person off-camera. Good coaching!

Too bad no more Michael Ironside voicing the hero though…

As a professional Secret Agent, it is nice to see my oft-forgotten profession finally receiving attention from the entertainment industry. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said to myself “you know what code name Mountain? Someone really needs to make a spy movie or game.

After looking into the other Splinter Cell games, I have been unable to find any references to martinis or loose women. These generally take up most of my time during the normally mind-numbing surveillance of targets.

Good job Ubisoft (even the Canadians and the French).

At least they are concerned with accuracy and realism.
