I just finished Horse Soldiers. It’s a very interesting book about SF and the opening of Afghanistan, a little humor mixed in, but really just reality.
No shit, someone gave me that book a few months ago and havent had a chance to read it yet.
Finished Horse Soldiers… Absolutely loved it. The Flintstones meets the Jetsons part was surreal.
I liked that… it’s amazing when you think about our level of technology and their complete lack of it. I also liked the “light 12 light bulbs” and you can almost read the guy going “Where am I going to get 12 light bulbs and electricity out here?!”
Not in Horse Soldiers, but when we invaded Iraq they thought we had personal A/C units on us because there was no way we would be able to wear all that equipment without it… or that’s how the stories goes
Yea you might need a small mountain as a backstop for that.
Agreed. 5 rather large hills completely surrounded us at that range with nobody within 10 or so miles to the closest public road.
