.40 Caliber Guy – Song

Tactical Tunes no longer has writers block… or dancers block apparently either LOL:

hahah sweet wig and killer dance moves.  I briefly had a G22 (.40), and I didn’t care much for it compared to my 9mm and my .45.  I decided at the time, the only thing cool about .40 it was I used to snag brass the cops left behind at the police range I shot at.  In the end I never did reload it, but I had a lot of it which I gave to a friend a while after I sold the G22.

Fxhummel1-556x45mmDepending on who you talk to, .40 is definitely the “god caliber”.  haha I don’t know about that though.

A lot of ENDO Apparel shirts in this vid, FXHummel / Tactical Tunes has always been a huge supporter of the brand and it’s much appreciated.

Thoughts?

never understood the 40 cal. either buff up those limp wrists and go to 10mm, or go 9mm. to me 40 was always a solution in search of a problem.

Have you done research on the subject? Your argument is non sequitur, and you apparently preclude the possibility that people might have individual tastes and look for a cartridge to fit their specific needs and wants. It’s not like there is ‘One caliber to rule them all’. Or, maybe there is an end-all combination; I figure that if we all bought a 9mm Glock & loaded it with RIP ammo, then we’d have the last gun AND the last round we would need, right? Get real.

I tried to put a little humor out there, and apparently i manage to find someone who’s tots grumpy pants. While i may give people shit for their cartridge choices(cause i can, and its fun), whatever they carry, shoot or use is up to them, its no skin off of my back. If you wanna get technical though, we can. By going to .40 i have reduced ammo capacity for a slight, and i do mean slight increase in velocity and bullet weight. With modern JHP ammo, the differences in all honesty between a 9mm .40 and .357 sig are so negligible as to be non existent. And after all, handguns are what you use to shoot your way to your long guns anyway right?

Yeah… Hangun cartridge debates are really silly since there’s such a negligible difference in effect between them in real world applications. Shot placement > all else.

In fact, 22 lr I believe is still the number 1 lethal pistol cartridge in the world (based on number of deaths).

That said, even most people who use .40 will admit it’s garbage. The energy imparted is barely over 9mm, you get less rounds per mag, and the recoil is much snappier than other similarly sized pistol rounds so follow up shots are harder.

There’s a reason a bunch of law enforcement offices that went to .40 in the last 10 years have recently switched back to 9mm or .45acp. ::shrug::

Bear, you pretty much summed my whole argument up. I use a 10mm cause i’m a recoil whore, and it does everything i want in a handgun cartridge. But that being the case, i also carry a 9mm as well. and yeah, 22lr has killed more people than any other cartridge, but i believe in one shot kills, the .357 magnum is still the king of handgun rounds. And you gotta look at the history of the .40. why was it made? cause the fbi had a bunch of limp wristers who couldnt handle the recoil. performance of the cartridge was never the issue.

Exactly. To add to that, the FBI were already using the pussy 10MM Lite load when they had HK make them MP5/10 which is why no MP5/10 or clone can handle even regular loaded 10MM let alone hot loaded 10MM.

I’m just saying I am really sick and tired of everyone picking on the ‘new guy’ because it’s popular and cool to do it. Every single time there’s been a new innovation or renovation since someone figured out how to explode powder, everyone’s gotten their panties in a bind about how useless it is and how it’s an unnecessary solution to a non-existent problem. The musket crowd thought repeaters would only encourage troops to waste ammunition. The revolver crowd said the 1911 would never fly. The 1911 crowd laughed when the 9mm intruded on the market, coining the ever-popular ‘9mil doesn’t kill’. The Garand crowd hated on the .308 M14 as a varmint gun (believe it or not, there are still those people around) and both of them insulted the manhood of the M16 operators. Such arguments are cyclic and a complete waste of time. If it doesn’t work, people won’t use it, and it will disappear.

No one has ever said the .40 never works. What they say is that it doesnt do anything that separates it from anything else thats out there. And at this point, .40 is hardly new. Its out there, its an established cartridge, and no one claims its not effective. But it offers no advantages to other established cartridges. If you wanna run it, go for it, its your gun, your money, your time. But to claim that people are ‘haters’ and uneducated for not liking your precious pony is just asinine and quite childish.

  2. That was painful to watch. Also, where were the Yeager remarks in that song? I watched the whole thing waiting for a stab at 40 and small penises..penisae? whatev.

It’s frustrating to an engineer like me to watch that video (and other Yeager vids. And no, not a hater) because around 2/3 of his arguments are ad hominem attacks that are based on his opinion instead of on hard facts (and those ‘facts’ he sets forth he doesn’t back up). Because he, nor anyone else, can honestly look you in the face and say that the .40 is not superior in some ways. That’s when they start arguing degrees; “Well, it’s not THAT superior to the 9mil…” Ok, got it, thank you.

Bottom line, as I’ve said before, there is no ‘One cartridge to rule them all’. Lord Sauron would indeed be disappoint…
