NRA Life Of Duty Derps Talking About The War On Drugs And Terror

I really hoped this would go a different direction:

Oh imagine that, there are people who want to do drugs, don’t care about where they came from, and that they are illegal.

I love how legalization isnt even considered as a viable option by any of these guys.  Wouldn’t want to ruin the prison industry and potentially lighten the load / reassign law enforcement to different problems.  Sure legalization isn’t a 100% solution, but looking at past examples such as the legalization of alcoholic beverage consumption, I’m thinking things couldn’t be any worse than they are now if drugs were legalized.  Could open up a whole new revenue stream for the government too.

If any one group of people should know, it should be law enforcement…. CRIMINALS DO NOT FOLLOW LAWS; gun laws, drug laws, alcohol laws etc… No laws definitely isn’t the answer either obviously.

Has anyone ever stopped doing drugs because carrying the guilt of “funding terrorism” was too much to bear? I want to see an A&E intervention containing that.

tmnt-drugs-pizzaYea that swiss cheese border is a whole other issue which needs to really be fixed too, wow.

Thoughts?

  1. It’s a giant roundtable of derp. Jerry should wear a seatbelt. Traffic accidents are the number one killer of on duty cops. The only reason these guys had and kept jobs was due to the losing war on drugs. Legalization would put a lot of people out of work.

  2. It’s definitely a complicated issue, but the guy’s arguments seem hollow and simplistic in my opinion. I hope this was because the way the video was edited, but I doubt it.

I think legalizing certain drugs, like marijuana, with certain conditions (age, amounts, location of consumption, employer’s right to refuse employment for consumption, etc.) is a start, and is something that should help lower crime. I think legalizing will help ensure the marijuana is safe, or provide a legal recourse to buyers if it isn’t. If you don’t think marijuana is dangerous, look up mold in marijuana. I think another unintended consequence of keeping marijuana illegal is dangerous alternatives like K2 being created which has killed people. Unfortunately, the original derp argument with pot smokers years back was marijuana was only for their grandma’s glaucoma.

The history of the Opium Wars, and the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, and our ATF and Dyncorp counter-narcotics operations is something I was hoping to hear in this round table discussion. Unfortunately, I think they fell short with the stereotypical responses.

So what’s the over/under on how many of those fuckers join LEAP the day after they have their pensions locked in?

    1. Is it me, or does Peter Christ looks and sounds like Ted Nugent?

  4. Buy American! LOL

  5. This “drug warrior” BS makes me sick. Never mind the hilarity of a guy drinking coffee and smoking a cigar telling me about the dangers of drug use. It’s not like the CIA sells cocaine to fund wars… Oh, wait. They did. Kind of odd that heroin goes down in price as a war is waged on its growing fields.

The video almost makes the argument that legalization would end all the violence. A heroin user would gladly buy from a reputable source but the drug warriors prevent it. You made him a criminal and now you’re shocked he associates with criminals? Oh, and when its finally legalized, pot will be worthless. Every farmer knows how invasive hemp is and anyone who wants will easily grow enough for personal consumption.

Now that we’ve demonized drug use, let’s get back to our NRA wine club. If they were honest about letting folks own what they want they should be open to letting folks consume what they want. A buddy made a movie on youtube called Guns and Weed: the Road to Freedom. Check it out.

    1. Once you legalize pot it’ll be worthless? I have to disagree, here in Colorado it’s the other giant attraction after skiing (and it’s year-round) and wow it’s certainly NOT worthless.

      1. You’re missing his point. Street prices have dropped in Colorado close to legal prices.

Sure when it opened it was going for over $400/oz; but now it’s dropped closer to $200-$300. Street prices are hard to get reliable but I’ve read it’s around $150-$250 for similar quality.

And this is just the beginning. You can’t expect the market to balance itself out this soon. The real advantage legal producers will have is economy of sale, open and competitive investment, and reduced overhead in the way of trafficking/etc. Eventually prices overall will come down. This is all just economics 101 stuff. Supply curve rises to meet demand curve.

The exception is if the marketplace is constrained by legislation (e.g. barriers to production).

This isn’t rocket science. Look at alcohol. Is there moonshine? Sure, but it’s not a huge problem. Most alcohol consumed is legal. It’s just not worth it for most people to go through the risk and hassle to save a couple bucks. Consumers are price-sensitive, but given the choice most will flock towards legal $10 hooch vice illegal $8 hooch.

        1. Exactly, who the hell is going to buy a dime bag off the illegal on the street which contains god knows what when you can get better shit at nearly the same price or better (once the industry grows) at walgreens?

Funny thing is, even in places where pot is legal, in the eyes of the ATF, if you frequently toke up (even at home) you’re still committing a felony by mere possession of firearms and ammo. It’s possible that this is by design, given the population a choice of “one or the other” or setting up countless people for crackdown felony charges

  7. I’m loving the responses here. And Mike, great job bro. I’m glad to see the jackbooted thugs being exposed all over the place these days. I’m surprised there haven’t been the usual sheeple rolling through here telling everyone to go back to TTAG. All I saw in the video is a bunch of brainwashed mini tyrants regurgitating nonsense. And btw, people in my state (Colorado) who purchase marijuana aren’t supporting terrorists. They’re supporting small businesses and a thriving economy. Everyone should also take a look at what the Swiss have done with their “Heroin Assisted Treatment.” It saved money because less crime was being committed (less prisoners etc), saved lives because the drugs were pharmacy grade and doses monitored, and reduced the number of addicts drastically. I’d love to see the pretend heroes in this video get that thrown in their faces. Oh, and fuck the NRA for not seeing the trees through the forest.

With the combination of b.s. “forfeiture” laws and getting more taxpayer money from uncle sam for more drug arrests, not to mention the amount of money .gov makes off of the manufacture and distribution of cocaine and heroin, in particular, and the private prison corporations giving massive kickbacks makes them want to fight to the death to keep the stays quo. The vice video on a high school bust is rather disgusting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8af0QPhJ22s

  9. Seatbelts optional huh ? 1:30-2:05

  10. After reading the description I can’t bring myself to watch drug war BS. Prohibition of goods in demand breads crime and makes the criminals wealth beyond belief. What created the american gangster? Alcohol prohibition. What created the current situations with the powerful cartels in the failed state south of us? Our war on drugs. Not to mention the racket of private prisons filled to large extent of non violent dope heads.

Then we of course have the fact that alcohol kills more people then all the illegal drugs combined.

I say legalize it all. There will be a temporary increase of users but it will ultimately come down to lower levels than what we have now (the data is there from counties that went with legalization). Use a fraction of the money spent on the war on drugs and treat these poor bastards that can’t handle the party.

    useful idiot Noun
In political jargon, useful idiot is a pejorative term for people perceived as propagandists for a cause whose goals they are not fully aware of, and who are used cynically by the leaders of the cause.

Useful idiots are smart enough to memorize talking points and eloquent enough to deliver clever lines on command, but not driven enough to follow an ideology through to its logical conclusion. To put it a third way, these DEA tools are smart enough to spew bullshit, and dumb enough to swallow it.
