Doubling The Round Capacity Of The Kel-Tec KSG Shotgun

By using Aguila Minishells:

A video from Hang Strange doing the same thing:

FLAWLESS.

Keanu-WoahKel-Tec is really fighting an uphill battle with with everyone and their grandma knowing how bad that KSG was when it first came out wow haha.   I still remember seeing Military Arms Channel’s review (The KSG Failgun) and laughing at it.  MAC supposedly was going to do a review on a new KSG to give it another chance, but as of now it doesn’t look like he has.

Someone school me on those mini shells…. what’s the downside besides less shot?

My only questions now are… Is the KSG working properly now, or are the guy in video #1 and Hank Strange both shooting the SAME magical gun?

Last time I played with them (13-15 years ago), they had feed problems in most pump shotguns and didn’t work beyond the first shot in a semi-auto. The shorter shells is more likely to hang up on the action when it’s feeding.

Aw damn. Yea that seems to be the general talk about them.

MAC posted a video to facebook showing there are still some funky KSGs. He had two brand new KSGs show up, one that was perfectly fine, the other that was all funky when you went to rack it.

Oh ok. I wonder why he didn’t put a video up on YouTube?

it wasn’t a full review. It was very short quick check of new shipment that came in. At this point an update on the KSG is probably low on the list of things he is working on.

Yeah! Twice the opportunity jam in this jam-o-matic POS shotgun.

Initially I was drawn to what I thought were innovative designs but I have really grown to dislike Kel-Tec over the years. I am sick of the vaporware at extravagant prices with functionality issues and meh quality. Look at the pinch point above fire control when you shuck this thing? I’m glad it isn’t such a jam-o-matic like what was shown in other videos (MAC etc.) But Kel-Tec as a company just can’t seem to get their shit together. Nah…I’ll stick with my 590A1 over any KSG. It seems to me that if they put as much effort in getting the product right as they put into making the rounds hyping and touting their shit they would be much better off. But as time has progressed it has become clear to me that this is just how Kel-Tec operates. It’s a piss-poor way to do things.

Yea that really sucks :( If they would follow through and make sure everything that leaves the factory is in perfect working condition they could probably turn the impression most people have around before it’s too late.

Or just make make more than 5 guns a month might also help their cause and keep the demand pricing down towards what these guns are worth…very little.

+1 I gave up after the debacle with the PMR-30. Really cool idea. Too bad the $300 gun was going for over twice that, if you could find one. Then even if you bought one they ended up recalling them. And through all this, rather than trying to up production to meet demand, Kel-Tec is busy making a select fire carbine version.

You can only show off so many cool guns you either barely produce or that don’t work before the market quits caring.

Well said PJ.

I really think Kel-Tec would do well to listen to comments like yours. It’s not like there are only a few options out there, people run to more reputable brands and designs at much more realistic pricepoints. Truth be told when I first saw the dual tubes and compact design of this shotgun I wanted it. And I was in the market for a shotgun for HD. But then the reality that is Kel-Tec set in and they were quickly deleted from my list of possible options.

I still remember when I saw the PMR-30 thirty actually for sale in a LGS. It was WAY over msrp but I had to check it out. As I held it I smirked to the guy behind the counter and said, “wow it’s like finding a unicorn in the wild!” We both laughed and then I gave it back. xD

I’ve always hated keltech, even though I have wanted to love them so bad.

I dont have the time or the energy to mess with defective guns. I realize that not all guns even by HK or Wilson are perfect, nothing is, although there is a certain threshold that is unacceptable for me, and keltech has broken it.

I really wish people would stop fanboying their bullpup rifles as if they are the second coming of christ…

12G mini shells have the kinetic energy of a 20G shell. That’s the downside for me. Other than feed issues of course.

I have a new (manufactured this year) KSG, it runs pretty great; I’m really skeptical about it because I don’t like to many moving parts, too many complicated doo-dads to worry about failing, but thus far it has performed super well for me (~500 shells or various sorts). Although I frequently find myself pondering on trading it in for a Benelli M4 and having a super reliable semi-auto.

Benelli M4 for the win my friend.

Yeah for three times the price lol and almost twice as long. The ksg is a tactical shot gun..
Don’t get me wrong the m4 is awesome and I’d love to have one but would I want to sweep a dark house with that long of gun? Just mean there would be time my barrel is not up ready to fire and instead down while trying to fit through doorways and hallways.

Same here haven’t had an issue with my (as someone stated in this thread) magical gun “KSG”. EAT IT HATERS

I picked one up a couple weeks ago. I have not had a single issue as as of writing this. I have put slugs, buck shot, and cheap target loads through it. I did hand it to a friend who owns a couple normal pump action guns. The first time he shot it he short stroked it. Once I corrected him he had no issues. I don’t own any other pump guns so I didn’t need to retrain myself with a different action.

I am currently working on a video for endo showing the proper KSG temple index technique and how to tactically attach skittles to the KSG. Any other derp you want to see with a KSG?

Haha KSG temple index! Maybe notch cap can make a specific cap with a notch to temple index with 100% consistent repeatable placement.

Please, educate us and show in the video how to tactically run and stop in this unforgettable “I have the shits” way, with all the robotic moves and 360° + check!

I never watched the magpul dynamic shit DVD so I am not an expert on that technique. If I can find the same tactical diapers that operators use I will do some experiments on a public range.

12 rounds of 00 buck wasn’t enough for you?

I mean, you can really get the job done with less than 6, but more power to ya.

My buddy Dan’s KSG runs great, short strokes easy though. As long as you’re very careful to rack it hard it works reliably. Also shot skeet with it :D

I shoot everything out of my KSG and I love it. I have never had a malfunction of any kind and shoot all types of ammo out of it. The gun is so fun to shoot and holds so many rounds that it can get hot and cheap low brass shells start to stick to the barrel. That’s when you have to shuck it hard, because cheap ammo with cheap plastic starts to stick. It would do it with any shotgun, if they could hold 15 2 3/4 rounds before needing to reload. Reloading after 5 to 7 shots means the barrel has time to cool. It also means you’re less likely to put 200 to 300 rounds through it each time at the range. The KSG is way more fun to shoot than any of your typical pump shotguns. Loving it!!!

I just bought a gen 2 KSG and put 30 round of aguila mini 7.5 shot thru it. The only problem that I had was that the last shell in the magazine would flip over and get stuck in the lifter. Other than that all rounds worked well. My workaround is to load in a full size shell in first and that also lets me know when to switch mag tubes. You can really hold the target with the minis.

I like KSG shotguns, they are extremely compact and easy to use. The balance is awesome. But I don’t think that I need more than 14 rounds :)
