I really didn’t think my palate was that sophisticated until I started drinking coffee from premium places and not Starbucks. Now Starbucks tastes like burnt underwear to me. I still drink it though on occasion because I get free refills with my Gold card. Since I like value and am gluttonous that works out well. :P

I wonder what are the ” premium coffee places and types” is the author referring to? Actually Starbucks has the Reserve Coffee done via the Clover Machine! Incredible taste!
I’m talking independent places that use their own proprietary roasting methods on likely better beans and take more care making a cup. Like I said im not a coffee snob but these places just taste better to me.
I’m a fucking savage. I use those Maxwell House Coffee tea bag looking things and 3 mins in the microwave. I hate my tastebuds apparently. Lol.

Sounds good! I m in Chicago where there are many great places that are independent and do a great job of roasting beans! However I do prefer Starbucks for their consistency and quality! Regardless I m glad that you have a good pelet and can appreciate a great cup of mud!!
Here’s my theory on starbucks: They actually work with the lowest-quality, cheapest-price beans they can buy. They then roast the absolute s*** out of them so you can’t tell how crappy their materials are/were (like a steakhouse will give you the worst cuts if you order your steak “well done”, because they can burn the crappiness out of it). Then they add other chemicals (chikoree or whatever) and slap a $5 price on it and tell you “Enjoy this or you’re not good enough to realize how good it is!” and people buy it.
I drink Verona coffee through Clover Machine! It tastes great! I drink the Reserve Coffee ( Blue Mountain) and again it’s phenomenal! Starbucks other blends, very well could be!Just like anything else in life the customer has to know what product they are getting!
