American Sniper – Trailer #2

American-Sniper-Movie-Bradley-CooperYea that looks like it’s going to be good.  Bradley Cooper didn’t mess around by the look of it.

Select theaters Dec 25th, everywhere January 16th.

If you missed the first trailer check it out. I still think Zach Galifianakis should have had supporting role.

Thoughts?  Anyone not as optimistic as me?

  1. This looks like a very heavy movie.

  2. I wish some of the proceeds would go to hiring someone to f’ Jesse Ventura in his neck with a dull knife.

  3. Nailed-it, Cubbie.
This is another one (like “Lone Survivor”) that I’m looking forward to seeing, but dreading watching it.

    1. +1 on that… even the trailer gave me chills.

  4. the book was very good

  5. I’m just hoping it’s not boring like Flags of our Fathers; though the (IMO) clumsy in medias res style may have contributed to that.

Clint Eastwood can be really good or really flat. I do think it will be pretty accurate and the gear/etc will be good.

What I’m really wondering is what kind of movie it will be. I’m guessing the usual fraternity and loyalty cast against futility amidst a backdrop of anguished humanity. But is it going to be a relatively flat character film like Lone Survivor or will it have laster depth like Black Hawk Down?

    Should be fun either way.

    1. Saw it last night. Its pretty heavy, but over-all, I liked it. Its slow at times, bouncing in and out of Chris’ home life, multiple tours and flashbacks. In a way, it is Flags of our Father’s ish, but I can appreciate Clint Eastwood’s style. While I did dig the audio( especially during the fight scenes, something felt odd. It was more of a military drama than an action film. The final battle was no Saving Private Ryan…not even Fury. Then again, I don’t believe that was the point of this film. Over-all, I give it a solid B.

this shows him as a far more emotionally complex person than his book conveys. in the books, he comes across as a bureaucratic killer who thought of his targets as numbers, not people. hollywood might want to portray him as a victim of his duty, but i don’t think that’s the case.

  7. I read his book and tired of the passages his wife wrote. If she wanted to write a book about what it’s like being his husband, she should have done it. I wanted to read about Chris Kyle smoke-checking fools, so I just ended up skipping over her parts.

I look forward to the movie. Sad he’s gone, especially sad how he went.

  8. Bradley’s Texas accent sucks. Should have hired Tommy Lee Jones to do some voice coaching.

    1. Yeah, even Dubya could fake a Texas accent better than that.

  9. The book was great. I hope there is no mention of him appearing on Sons of Guns with Short Eyes Hayden.

    1. Not a word
