Even though COD is hella lame many of them are avid gun enthusiasts and avid rights supporters and if this is what it takes, for Fred Savage to quest to Las Vegas, so be it.

I’m pretty sure it is for CoD, the videos of their championships are basically near fights and constant obscenities. People looking to be in their twenties acting less than eight.
Best bit is they give esports a bad name despite the CoD championship being nowhere near The International in prestige or prize money.
I don’t begrudge anyone for being the best at something. Even if it’s something I think is silly or useless. If you’re going to devote your time and effort to some activity, take it seriously and be the best at it. To me, that’s much different from a couch potato in his early 20’s who still lives with mom and dad, refuses to get a job or take out the garbage.
These guys are amateur nerds at best, splitting $1m five ways. Dota 2 pulled in $10m total prize pool this year, about $6m of which was split five ways for the winning team. Source – I’m a bigger nerd than most of these COD goons. I still rock a Soundblaster card for my gaming PC cuz it has an amp to power my high-impedance Sennheisers, nerd cred what up!
Shit talking is definitely allowed and seemingly encouraged at these events, and seems to be far more present in COD than most other esports. A lot of other esports (Dota, LoL) have a much friendlier and fun atmosphere to them, and the player/player and player/fan interactions. These COD guys are goons even by gaming standards, and that’s saying something.
