Richard Ryan Empties A Mag Of Truth

Putting internet “get rich quick with us” dream-sellers on notice, and trying to help content creators out:

Richard-Ryan-Deagle-ShirtI’ve taken fire numerous times (that’s one example linked) for saying similar things, but calling out names.  He didn’t mention anyone or any companies specifically so it will definitely draw less hate.  He’s a lot more diplomatic than I am, which is probably a good quality.

The points he touched on are key if you’re a content creator.  If you are, definitely watch it… if you’re not, there’s probably nothing at all in the video that will be of interest to you.

  1. Doing a collaboration with another channel isn’t really a bad idea for growing channels. RR has a million followers, so he’s at the top of the top, and has some great insight. As for the networks, they’re totally BS. Even my little channel gets requests to join networks and they’re always sketchy on the details. I know my little channel is never going turn a profit, it’s a hobby I enjoy. Videos I think will get views, like me getting pepper sprayed, get less than 5k views – yet talc balloons got twice the views of the pepper spraying, go figure. I have a complete volunteer crew that I’m lucky to pull together when the conditions are right for shooting video.

RR’s advice here was great. It’s something a channel of his size never talks about. It’s well worth the 17 minutes of watch time.

  2. good video. Youtube networks exist to take your money. There can be a few benefits but the costs often times outweigh the benefits. Now that youtube gives everyone full partner benefits there isn’t much reason to be in a network. I started out in a network because back then you couldn’t get cool partner benefits like custom thumbnails, etc…, without being a youtube partner. And they didn’t give partnership tiny channels in those days. But as soon as my contract was up I ditched the network and went back to adsense.
