Freedom Tools Close Quarters Bullshit

In the USA at least they have the freedom to be the tools they are:

I don’t know who I’m more disappointed in, the instructors or the students.  Both exhibit mind blowing levels of derp. Yea I agree portrait mode video is derpy as well, but at least this was documented.

Freedom Tools popped smoke and did the facebook delete maneuver to avoid the blow back.  Good call haha.  Another training company who apparently were the hosts of this group called West Texas Shooting Academy are taking the brunt of the abuse now.    Here is their official statement from the facebook page:

Ladies and gentlemen yesterday I posted a video of a training class that was held yesterday. I am catching a lot of flack for this class. I want to break this down for everyone because the information and statements that are being posted are not truthful.

Here is the situation, I own West Texas Shooting Academy. We have a shooting league that meets twice a month. Yesterday we invited Matthew Bennett the lead instructor from Freedom Tools to conduct a room clearing drill. I made a mistake, I never watched, or went through a class with them. I do not teach any military, or tactical training, only basics, and fundamentals. The video is part of the drill that that Matthew was teaching. This was his class, West Texas Shooting Academy was finished with our portion of the scheduled training for the day. The reason they “Freedom Tools” were there, was so we “West Texas Shooting Academy” could observe one of their classes, in hopes of working with them. Obviously this is not going to happen. We will not have them back for any other classes. Again, I take responsibility for inviting them to do a demo class. We are a great school and resource for anyone wanting training on safety, basics, and fundamentals. I stand by that statement as tall as i can!

If you feel the need to comment, or bash anyone for this particular class, please address the company and instructor that were in charge of the instruction.

I appreciate the fact the owner of the hosting company is getting out in front of this.  As an owner of something though it’s kind of your responsibility to make sure if it has your name attached to it you’re happy with the association.  Shitty he didn’t do any due diligence.

Freedom-Tools-TrainingThe original poster of the video on Facebook is Brooke Adams, who as you can see by the comments if you click through that link is absolutely shitting a brick over the entire situation (rightfully so).  What I do find priceless though is that she has some sort of affiliation with Jason Pike (Trident Tactical Solutions “Jostle king” / “Forward of the muzzle prince”), who if you remember from the top posts from the last two days is hardly a shining beacon of safety either.  haha if you’re into facebook maybe call her out on that.

Thoughts?  Would Charlie’s Angels pose with buddies at a Freedom Tools course once they re-surface?

Shout outs to my dude HighCapacityTV for the re-upload.

  1. What in the living fuck is going on in Texas these days, 3 post in 3 days…

Looks like badly trained ex-army folks with next to none real experience teaching poorly remembered squad tactics to clueless civilians who have zero practical application for such things.

Apparently the bullshido siren’s call has been answered clearly and loudly by a large percentage of the ‘gun community’ in the past few years. Although now instead of kids doing poorly executed spinning kids, young men flailling around with over priced and poorly designed ‘self defense knives’, we now have middle aged men slowly moving around and bumping into one another while waving semi-automatic weapons around in random directions.

Oh when will people learn to stop buying into the martial artist bullshit they see in movies?

Oh when will people start to realize that military tactics taught for places like Iraq are useless and dangerous unless you are backed by teams of armed men carrying explosives, fully automatic weapons, with high-end radio communication, armored vehicles, tanks, and survalience aircraft support? Plus how often do you suppose any of these guys actually need to clear out one room sheds full of potential terrorists?

      1. When you operate as hard as I do, every damn day!

Gotta clear the shed of those pesky stray cats that pee on everything. Worse than ISIS, I tell you what.

        /sarcasm

      2. Cory and Erica at it again? “training”

    2. Rednecks + Money + Guns = What you see here

I’m not bashing the rednecks, but when some guy comes in and says that he can train you to become tactically awesome in just a couple hours, many of the rednecks jump on the opportunity. A lot of W. Texas is still pretty behind when it comes to these kind of shooting sports. To them, rifles are for hunting (bolt action of some kind) or plinking (.22 lr and empty cans), never used in the “tactical” method shown above.

Many of the shooters in my area have only ever been to a gun range once: to get their carry license. A lot of the same shooters here have some kind of family/friend connection to go shooting or hunting. This is improving though. We’ve had several new ranges and independent gun shops open in the last few years. The gun shows still sucks balls though.

Haha yea no doubt. A disturbing trend definitely.

The danger on display is sobering. Find it difficult to understand that the same people who are inclined to buy those rifles and pay for an expensive class can yet be so dense on basic matters of safety.

  3. Wait a second here. If I owned one of those AK/AR pistols and was using the Sig brace, I sure as heck wouldn’t have let them film me shouldering it! But, I hope this video never draws the level of attention that would get anyone in trouble.

Haha Yea maybe he has a form 1 for it and likes the stock just. We’ll go with that ;)

  4. There’s a little more to this story. The West Texas Shooting Academy hosted this. Freedom Tools was invited to teach a very basic rifle class. At a a pistol class earlier in the day, Freedom Tools threatened to leave when one of the students was “holstering” his handgun in his waistband, and not being forced to use a holster. No bullshit. One of the instructors loaned the dumbass a holster. After they had taught their basic rifle class, the owner of West Texas Shooting Academy pressured them into teaching a basic/intro to room clearing. They obviously gave in. From my limited understanding, it was reluctantly and under the condition that no weapons or magazines were loaded during this “teaching” moment. And for the added bonus, the guy filming it is the owner of WTSA. He thought it was great at the time, and was using it for promo material. smh

$10 says the gun-in-waistband offender was the dude dressed like he was going to his wife’s yoga class. ‘OCP? Brah I’ve got orange.’

Tools is a great name for that group.

  6. Is the skinny kid wearing red Crocs? Damn son, those shoes are bright!

  7. I don’t see anything super crazy. I just see guys (who’s legit level cannot be ascertained in the video) teaching professional level tactics to a bunch of amateurs who have no context for them. Yeah, you can pick some things out. The (tape)room was far too small for a 4 man entry. The weapons handling was atrocious. The level of control over safety and good tactics is non-existent. Basic entry should be taught with an instructor behind and physically controlling each student. But I’m willing to chock that up to not knowing how to work with people who have no fundamentals. Like an Olympic track coach trying to teach a toddler to run with good mechanics. Or they are super un-legit.

    1. +1, especially in context (if true) that weapons were cold at the time.
None the less, this is bad.
I have been to courses that taught 2 man entry and clearing (empty and live) and never felt endangered or even remotely uncomfortable. There is a right way to do things, if you don’t have the right audience or if you’re not going to teach it all the way, just don’t do it.
Referring to another recent post, if you have to specify in your video that you had medical professionals on stand by, you probably know what you’re doing is fucking stupid.

    2. Agreed. Looked like my first attempted room clearing exercise in basic, minus all the yelling. Had no idea what I was doing. As long as the weapons were clear there’s not too much crazy going on in this scenario… Tons of derp from the students, but then again this was probably their first exercise like this so who can blame them? Bunch of middle aged white dudes clear a room. Snore. ;)

    Cue the tactical nuts check.

Jason and his crew are extremely professional and safety conscious. He’s a former SEAL, what else would you expect! Toward that, Jason has cautioned all of his members to not badmouth his competitors. He’s a class act.

  10. Why would you repost something as bad as this TWICE? Trident Tactical Solutions is a legitimate, professional training place and I can see where they would have an issue with the safety of this video. If this was their first time, at least say, this is how NOT to do this drill.
