Brownells FOREVER Guarantee Is Pretty Awesome

This is interesting / cool:

I like the idea, and there is definitely going to be such a small number of people who take advantage of it according to studies.

Keanu-Woah0:30 – She sent her dead gunsmith husband’s USED tools back, and received a refund?  I’m sorry that she lost her husband, but widow or not that seems like a dickish move.  He made his living off those tools, and obviously got his money’s worth.  Much respect to Brownells for having such a policy. I wish I could buy a Ferrari tomorrow, and a couple years from now when the new body style comes out be like “Meh I’m over this one so I’m returning it.”

Here is their exact return policy:

Brownells guarantees 100% satisfaction on every item you purchase. If you buy a product from Brownells and decide you don’t need it, don’t want it, or just don’t like it, we’ll take it back any time; no questions asked. We guarantee your satisfaction 100% forever.

Thoughts?  Pretty awesome right?

  1. On one hand, what she did is a dick move. On the other hand, that dick move is paying off for Brownells who is using the example to make more sales. As for the Ferrari example.. let’s be honest, you’re probably driving a 1998 Chevy Lumina that has duct tape on holding the dash together and cheetos dust stained seats.

I wouldn’t use that return policy. First, I bought it and used it. Unless there was some serious flaw with the product, it’s mine and I’m keeping it. At the same time, I won’t buy from a place that says “All sales final”, I don’t want to buy something new only to find that they shipped me some pre-owned crap that now I can’t do anything with.

So, after all that ramble, it probably makes a lot of sense of Brownells to do this. I doubt many people are just returning stuff for the fun of it.

  2. Yep, I’m a fan. They were 100% cool about a thing with a tool I bought from them.

  3. Brownells may have taken a page from Sears’ Craftsmen tool warranty. Going back to the 1960’s Sears return/refund/exchange policy for Craftsmen tools was the gold standard. Whether one of their combination wrenches was found in a field, half rusted through or some enterprising lad decided he was going to break apart a box end wrench, Sears was true to their word.

    Good for Brownells.

  4. Funerals are expensive. Have to look for interesting ways to fund them, especially at older ages. Brownells has the BEST return policy and service in the industry though.

This reminds me of a generous return policy of some electronics retailer some years back. You could return anything, no questions asked.

So people would buy the latest iteration of iProduct or eGear and when the next version was announced, a quick blast in the microwave and it was no longer working. Returned it for the next generation and rinse, lather, repeat. I’d like to tell you the name of the retailer but they shut down some time ago and I can’t remember what they were called.

Costco used to have such a policy for their electronics. People got wise to it and abused their generosity, and they had to change it to a 90-day refund guaranteed return policy.

  6. What you’re all missing here is that guy putting all the magpul swag on his grandpas 870.

Anyone have an idea what jacket he was wearing? I’ve never seen a camo pattern like that, it looked interesting.

  8. Looks a lot like the LL Bean warranty of old. Sure, some abuse it, but the folks at Brownells know that 99.9% of people who buy products keep them unless there is an obvious defect. It also shows that Brownells understands good service and stands behind their products. Kudos to them!

I really like seeing this. Our company has a lifetime warranty (although not totally unconditional. We don’t warranty complete dumbass, just stupid). Companies like Vortex however will replace your stuff no questions asked ever, ever, ever. The downside to this kind of backing is a sharp increase in price to make up for the “Triple Shit Paradox”. Some people will simply treat their shit like shit just to get other free new shit.

But the product came scratch and look rough so I am sending it back , so I’ve been looking for another one . and found one on your side but did not know your warranty policy . so I went on the Internet , great policy you should put that in big red letters on your website .that made the difference to me for me buying from another Company hope to be doing business with you for a long time 👍🏼

I was taking off an old grip, from a Colt 22 Revolver, model 1905, and Trying to be as Careful as possible, broke the blade on my Brownell’s Screwdriver, flat head #1. The handle is clear, with blue stripes. I was wondering if this is covered under warranty? Thank You, Eric Moye
