combat

Sick of being asked how his time in Iraq was, a Michigan resident and war veteran got this licence plate:

Another good one:

I can imagine it would get old really fast when people want to hear stories about your time served overseas. It’s one thing if you want to talk about it, but I’m sure a lot of veterans would rather forget a lot of what happened.

I was sent this today from Bushmaster:

Drake from Magpul dumps 10 rounds with the 14.5″, then proceeds to switch it out for the 10.5″  barrel in no time flat and shoots 10 more. Pretty slick system.

The ACR looks pretty awesome with the 10.5″ on it!

Bushmaster is taking requests for any specific ACR videos you guys would like to see.

I really like the particle effect with the mud, water, and ice in the video.

As I was posting this article I realized that similar footage was released in the Leaked Remington ACR Promo Video that came out right before the last shot show.  The rifle in that is FDE ( Flat Dark Earth ) colored though, and this one is black.

I forget, is FDE the “new” black?  Or is it multicam that all the high-speeds are now rocking?

Bushmaster has a shiny new YouTube channel dedicated to the ACR – HERE

Each year, among the countries with troops in Afghanistan — the current number is 47 — tens of millions of dollars are spent researching how to fit the most calories, nutrition and either comfort or fun into a small, light package. The menus and accompaniments are intended not just to nourish but also to remind the soldier of home.

Check out the interactive version to see what’s in them – HERE

All of them look pretty nasty!

U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan could someday be awarded medals for restraint that prevents civilian casualties in combat.

Congratulations, you get a medal for not killing innocent people! Seems like unless your unit caused a total massacre, it would be pretty hard not to give this medal to everyone.  If it will improve morale though, I’m all for it!

My girlfriend and I always joke that I have “Incredible restraint for a human being”, because when something really pisses me off I take a breath and move on rather than over reacting.  To be honest I don’t really want a medal… A Starbucks gift card would be nice though. :P

During my deployments in Iraq there were often rumors that certain soldiers were taking steroids because of their sudden increase in physical size. When the unit deployed these soldiers looked no different from the average soldier, but upon completion of the deployment they looked Rambo-esque. Some soldiers felt that others were getting away with steroid use because these soldiers were rarely seen in the gym and because drug testing through urinalysis was rarely done by units while deployed.

I don’t know how people can function on drinks like “Rip-it”. I once had a few Red Bulls back to back and felt terribly anxious, and even more thirsty then I was initially.  I suppose you get accustomed to it though.

I’m really surprised they don’t crack down more on steroid use while deployed. Especially considering mismanaged steroid use can quickly lead to heath problems and injuries.  I assume the side effect of aggression would occasionally have its advantages in combat.  It would be nice though if you could just turn it off and on.
