Trying to answer the question: Is a black man in a hoodie really that scary?

Take a stand against stereotypes. Wear a hoodie for Halloween.

Yea real classy and creative to basically go as Trayvon Martin for Halloween.  The only thing more controversial would be going as George Zimmerman complete with prop handgun.

Maybe I’m just slow, but is this campaign trying to say that Trayvon was just some innocent kid out for a walk, and that he didn’t do anything to Zimmerman?  I’m so sick of hearing about those two people.

As far as people in hoodies being “scary”… if someone was coming at me with their hood up or any other method of obscuring their face I would definitely have my guard up.

Thoughts?  Anyone going to do this dumbass idea for Halloween? After looking at the youtube channel that put this out, it appears to just be some guy that is trying to stir the pot.

A few days after Halloween, but never too late for an 8 month old Goose & Maverick:

So awesome.  I love how the top gun theme song is playing from the rear of the F-14 too.

An ENDO public service announcement regarding firearm related & tactical Halloween costumes:

Serious business guys.

I photoshopped the pictures, which were taken from S*T*A*R*S ( Students Teaching About Racism in Society), an anti-racism student group at Ohio university with seemingly nothing better to do than complain about Halloween costumes.  The original posters (seen here) show students of different ethnic backgrounds posing with pictures of costumes the group feels depict racial stereotypes.

Going to a party, or dressing up tonight?  If so, what are you going as?

Hat tip: Dad for the idea.

would make the most epic Halloween costume ever:

Tank Dog Weapons Test:

“Listen up homes I got something to tell you.  Stop what you’re doing and mix me a drink.” -The LAV

Sadly no one I hang out with would get the Larry Vickers reference.   Who wouldn’t like a tank dog though?

Anyone have any other good gun related Halloween costume ideas?

Tactical super ninja Rich Graham would be another funny one that only you guys would get.  There would have to be a “Poppy” reference incorporated somewhere into the costume too.. maybe attached at the hip, or a mirror that said “Poppy” on it. :P

I originally built this rifle for a costume because I wanted something that would look nicely detailed compared to the relative simplicity of the suit. Originally it was just a silver nerf recon but over time I started to customize it as the suit was upgraded and made more complicated. I decided to keep all the functionality of the nerf gun to give me something to show off. (cocking, loading, etc) This project has been on and off for about 2 years now. I occasionally touched it up here and there and added some more detailing.

Pretty awesome!

Some details on how he built it – HERE

I really like the demonstration video too.  Nice touch with the HALO style heads up display and music.
