Matt Best had to do it to em:

haha hilarious, and so true.  The instagram “TrainiNg InStruCtOrS” are in an intense race to the bottom.  I specify Instagram because it’s the place that most of them are choosing to showcase their bullshit in realtime nowadays.  I’m just waiting for one of them to strap on a gun and jump an actual shark like The Fonz while engaging targets.  They are already metaphorically doing that on a daily basis, so one of them might as well just be self-aware / funny and do it for real.  That’s a free idea for the ones that read the blog.

I don’t know anything about AREX brand handguns… are they any good?  Visually, they always came across like they are trying to be Sigs.  That said, I realize theres a limit to what you can do design-wise when you don’t want to scare people and come out with something too far out of the box or comfort zone of the standard pistol.  I find it incredibly wild pretty much in every industry, that companies which are basically the same seem to thrive… when (as I see it) basically only their marketing is what sets them apart. 🤔  Just thinking out loud.

I like these funny Polenar videos the best, and I really wish they would stick to them.  That said, I like the disruptive nature of YouTube / Instagram celebs venturing into “instructing”.  It allows more opportunities where we can laugh at herbs in the comments asking “WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS?”, and then witness them get an aneurysm when they find out the “instructor’s” skills were gained from watching YouTube and Instagram videos + range practice.  The old guys seem to be the most pissed off at this.

Thoughts?  Do you miss the days where in order to become a respected instructor you needed to be a military veteran and train for years with already established instructors?

Oh Man… I think it goes without saying that this guy was fired immediately:

When I opened the vid I knew something stupid was going to happen, I just assumed it would be tame.  NOPE.  Holy I would have got the hell out of there so fast and worried about changing underwear later haha.  Classic how he tries to play it off after while looking red as a damn beet.. talking about the light trigger pull.

I really thought the only thing a person had to worry about at gun rental ranges was the newbs… not instructors.

Lisa Phillips:

rags-to-riches-nraBefore at least one of you yells “THAT’S RACIST” in the comments after reading my post title, take a look at the other videos on the channel this video is posted on.  Lisa Phillips might not have love for the hood, what do I know?  I’m just making assumptions based on the approximately one dozen rap videos on the channel and the “Rags to riches” watermark and channel name.

0:31 – “How to load and unload clip” – I like where this is headed.

0:35 – HI-POINT! LOL Me = dead hahah.

Nice how she emphasizes ear and eye protection when on the range.  Can’t be mad at that.

1:27 – No No NOOOOOOOO the tactical teacup grip!

1:37 – Noooo riding the slide home, to load “the bullet into the chamber”.  This is a disaster.

1:59 – Ok the grip improved here.

2:07 – “Rapid Firing”… that trigger slap at 2:32 tho.  Oh well as long as she’s hitting what she’s shooting at I guess.

2:43 – Oh good, she also teaches advanced classes.  I wish there was a video up that I could armchair critique.  I’m sure it would be better than watching a Magpul video.

2:54 – Get your concealed “WAPONS” permit training from her too.  Yea yea whatever typos happen, and I make dozens of them on here a week.

As expected, the comments people left on the video on YouTube are mostly pure gold.

Why didn’t they offer this at my University?

Not like I didn’t do it anyway, rather than selling the books back to the university bookstore for a ridiculously low amount.

Sounds like an awesome way to introduce new shooters to the wonderful world of guns, and start the summer off with a bang.

Pretty sweet that the $20 fee includes the use of the firearms, hearing protection, eye protection, and NRA certified instructors. I wonder if you bring your own ammo, or if they have it for sale there?

The Ohio University 2nd Amendment Club has a crude website set up if you are doubting their existence.  The book shoot is announced on the events page.

Pretty funny counter poster with Levar Burton.
