JFK

A higher caliber embarrassment than we’ve previously seen:

Oh and there is a Lee Harvey Oswald toast art of him firing the entire cartridge too *facepalm*:

When I said this is higher caliber embarrassment I was referring to the 9mm looking 007 Omega Watch Campaign Fail.

I’m more offended that someone would screw up this bad with something gun related, than I am with the fact they trivialized the JFK assassination.  It’s history… people are going to keep talking about it and expressing it through different mediums.

Guesses on the caliber?  I’m going to say 7.62×39.

Thoughts?

Two 9 millimeters, plus loads of bullets — 300 of them — and holsters to go with them, somehow got on board an Egypt Air flight out of JFK on Tuesday night. No one knew anything about the guns Mohammed Ibrahim stashed in his checked luggage until they were discovered in Cairo.

Ooops.. someone at the TSA is going to get in trouble for that one. Interesting how a University professor would try and pull a stunt like that… you’d think he would be smarter.  Plus if he’s traveling to another country I believe he would have to get a temporary import permit from that country, and an authorization to export from the U.S. …. maybe he had all those, but figured his work was done and didn’t bother to take the last required security steps at the airport?

It’s amazing but true: we can prevent terror suspects from boarding an airplane, but the FBI doesn’t have the power to block them from buying dynamite or an AK-47.

Not true Mayor Bloomberg… you actually can’t prevent terror suspects from boarding airplanes, and that is evident by the fact that recent Times Square bomb plot suspect Faisal Shahzad was able to board a Dubai-bound flight at JFK airport in your own city (Source).

I’m all for “closing the terror gap” when taken at face value… but in reality rather than buying new guns and risk being caught, terrorists will just start purchasing guns used (stolen or otherwise) or obtaining them through a legal 3rd party (also known as a straw purchase).  Just like other criminals, terrorists obviously do not care about the law, so circumventing it to get what they want is not going to faze them.

I can’t help but be suspicious that closing the terror gap will also mean more restrictions put on the rest of us.

Another problem is that currently the terror watch list is a huge joke. There are thousands of people on the list that shouldn’t be on there.  Should they be denied the right to purchase a gun?  Remember 8 year old Mikey Hicks?

By calling attention to ‘a well regulated militia’, the ‘security’ of the nation, and the right of each citizen ‘to keep and bear arms’, our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important.”

– John F. Kennedy, April 1960

Hell will freeze over before we would ever see Obama in a photo of comparable awesomeness.
