Everything is a “drone” now… RC vehicles, quadcopters…. ALL DRONES apparently:

Back in my day the term used to mean something which was able to operate autonomously.  Now it’s just a cool word all the cool teens are attaching to everything.  GET OFF MY LAWN.  No seriously get off it, I pay good money to get it aerated and the fertilizer and water bill + fines are astronomical. It’s made for viewing, not playing with drones and walking on.

Parrot-AR-Drone-QuadricopterThis above video is actually quite useless, but it did make me click through to the Parrot website so mission accomplished I guess.  Looks like Parrot actually has a bunch of cool offerings coming out soon.  WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.  The only mini one that’s not vaporware currently appears to be the Jumping Sumo, and for $160 it actually seems like a good deal.  Cool how there’s a built in camera which streams wirelessly to a handheld device which you use as the controller.  I don’t understand how kids aren’t getting into more trouble with this type of toy technology at their fingertips.  Here’s a video of one of the Jumping sumos in action, talking about its functionality if you care.

LOL after seeing that video, I am seriously considering a parrot.

The song is Drowning Pool – Bodies , click link for original song/vid in case you haven’t seen a military movie or youtube video in the past decade that used it. :P

I talked about the Parrot AR.Drone in the past… and I still want one real bad. Even more so since this new Augmented Reality game came out where you can control the drone with your iPhone / iPad / iTouch etc.. and hunt your friends drone down in an aerial deathmatch:

  • The price of the drone is $299 (HERE)… which seems fairly reasonable as long as it doesn’t break easily.

It must be expensive raising kids now… I can’t imagine any boy who wouldn’t have this thing on his Christmas list.

What a showoff, damn that is awesome.

I guess I answered my own question I posed in the title of this article, because it appears that neither one of these are available to the public yet.

As long as it can carry a small payload of possibly a camera, beer, guns, or gun related items… put me down for one! I know some options already exist, but they are super expensive and geared more towards the military and related businesses.

Bayonets on muzzles and full metal jackets
V-neck velour shirts and dark-tinted glasses
Parrots perched on fingers with green colored wings
These are just a few of my favorite things!
