POV

They released an official trailer:

Looks very intense!  I can imagine that after an hour+ of this (I’m assuming) I’ll probably want to throw up.  The first time I felt really old was watching my younger cousins play Call of Doody and I had to take a walk because I felt nauseated.

Hardcore-Poster-GoProThis “go-pro POV action genre” was originally made popular by the band Biting Elbows who with the same director made a pretty crazy POV music video for one of their songs.  After that went viral they raised $250k on Indiegogo for this movie we just watched the trailer for.

Thoughts?  I’d like to see this… Hopefully it’s something that will come out online or on Netflix or something after it’s TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) screening.

This is an interesting contrast to the Glock 43 commercial I posted today:

The guy in charge makes the statement at 0:23 that the idea was to let the viewer project themselves into the action of shooting the firearms rather than cast people supposedly from the target audience.  Cool, yea POV definitely does that.  Totally different feel in this commercial than the Glock one, but I suppose at the end of the day the same thing either is or isn’t accomplished (sales).  In my mind, I don’t really know which one I feel is more effective.  The S&W ones are definitely higher energy and look “fun”… so I’d say they probably get the edge.  Granted it’s like comparing apples to oranges because the Glock commercial was about concealed carry (a serious topic), not shooting silly string and tannerite filled watermelons for shits and giggles.

That RED POV rig they made is pretty bulky whoa.  Definitely not your little brother’s GoPro when it comes to size or video quality.  You can check out the Pistol and rifle commercials in their final form below:

This is awesome:

Awesome not only because I like POV cams on guns, but awesome because he did it with a Sterling.  Seriously though, if you don’t think the Sterling is cool, I don’t know what’s wrong with you. :P

I sure hope that’s not the stars & stripes which he’s wiping down the gun with at 23 seconds.  Other than that, i’m shocked and appalled by the epicness of the video.

The music, the fast video cuts, the camera work, the voice overs, the car, the clothing… all perfect.
