R Lee Ermey

R. Lee Ermey got a new gig.  Not his best acting work:

You can check out the gunny signature line over at TRU-SPEC.

The shirt and backpack look alright, I don’t like the hat or vest, and I’m not into tactical pants though.

I love people think they are sneaky grey men when they wear tactical vests.

Everyone is jumping on the Gagnam Style bandwagon:

I need to watch Full Metal Jacket again sometime.  I forget a lot of the scenes shown the video.

Insane how Gagnam Style has almost 609 million views.

Gunny shows up, yells for 5 seconds, and gets paid:

Good commercial, would have been better with swearing though.  I like how R. Lee Ermey’s epic role in Full Metal Jacket will continue to get him paid until he dies.

According to Ermey, he was fired by Geico because he bashed President Barack Obama in December 2010, saying his administration was trying to “impose socialism” on the American people and was “destroying the country.”

If you don’t remember R. Lee Ermey’s Geico commercial where he played a therapist you can check it out here.

Is it legal to fire someone because of their political beliefs?  My guess is that wasn’t the official reason, so I’m surprised he even said that on camera.

I could have done with the first minute of the commercial… but I guess it sets up the last half for people that aren’t familiar with the gunny.

You might remember the Trigger The Vote – Chuck Norris ad from 2010.  It was quite a bit funnier than this one.

From the personal collection of Gaston Glock:

This very special GLOCK 22 (.40 caliber), known within the company as the “GLOCK Statue of Liberty Gun,” features an intricate, hand-engraved tribute to the Statue of Liberty. This theme was selected to recognize that GLOCK’s 25th Anniversary coincides with the 125th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty.

Currently selling on Gunbroker for $13,000, no reserve.

If you end up wining the auction you also get to go on a 2 day one night hunting trip with R. Lee Ermey (The Gunny).  I’m assuming it also includes unlimited “choke” pictures and yelled insults from him… if not that sucks :P

I’m curious to see what the end price will be.  I know that engraving has got to be worth quite a bit, considering how long it must take… but there is obviously going to be a huge premium in this case considering this particular engraving job is directly from Glock’s collection and is a 1 of 1.
