I’m offended by the stupidity of this so called defense:

“The most unbelievable product in school safety I have ever seen in my life” -Chief

In the event of a school shooting or threat of violence, classrooms will go into lockdown. If a shooter gets into a classroom, teachers can now use hand-held whiteboards as shields to protect their students.

Full Story – FOX

I’ll have to agree with the chief LOL… it really is unbelievable.  Wow, and not “just” a shield either, it can be used as a weapon too… I love the little demo he gives so much.

I can’t wait to here an expert’s explanation for how a teacher is going to block bullets like a cartoon character.  Last time I checked, people can’t anticipate where a 1000+ ft/s round is going to end up.  Does anyone actually think that active shooters would waste more than a couple shots at something like that before moving on to softer/easier targets?  How much do you want to bet some kid’s parents are so in love with this idea they actually went out and bought their kids a stupid board and told them “Carry it if you want to live” *Arnold Schwarzenegger voice*.  Then in an extreme twist, the kid gets the name “Board Boy”, becomes an outcast and shoots up the school which was trying to protect him, using a round such as the FN 5.7 in order to blast through the very boards and make everyone look like idiots.  Too far?

Kind of racist they went with white boards too, rather than black boards?  What, black boards aren’t good enough?  Some of my best school memories come from black boards.

Minnesota-Bulletproof-WhiteboardI love how arming teachers or staff (who volunteer) with firearms and necessary training is just totally out of the question still. Pretty sick that “the next best thing” is this stupid product.

A company called HARDWIRE based in Maryland makes the boards. The product page for them is pretty hilarious if you get a chance to check it out. $299 + shipping! If you have deep pockets, buy a bunch to troll friends.

Thoughts?
