Extreme risk protection order:

Hmmm this is problematic on a LOT of levels, both constitutionally and not (if you ask me).

Here are the details:

What can an Extreme Risk Protection Order do?
An Extreme Risk Protection Order directs a person to surrender their firearms. It would be illegal to purchase or have control of firearms. It restrains the person from obtaining a concealed pistol license and orders them to surrender a license if they already have one.

Who is it filed against?
A person who poses a significant danger of causing personal injury to self or others in the near future by having firearms. Factors that demonstrate such a risk can include violent behavior, threats of self-harm, dangerous mental health crisis, and abuse of drugs or alcohol. The person who is alleged to be dangerous is called the respondent.

Who can request the order?
A family or household member or a law enforcement officer or agency may ask the court to issue an order by filing a petition. The person requesting the order is referred to as the “petitioner.” The law defines a family or household member as:

– person related by blood, marriage, or adoption to the respondent;
– dating partner of the respondent;
– person who has a child in common with the respondent, regardless of whether such person has been married to the respondent or has lived together with the respondent at any time;
– person who resides or has resided with the respondent within the past year;
– domestic partner of the respondent;
– person who has a biological or legal parent-child relationship with the respondent, including stepparents and stepchildren and grandparents and grandchildren, or;
– a person who is acting or has acted as the respondent’s legal guardian.
– If you do not have the necessary relationship, or are not comfortable asking the court for an order, you can tell police about the situation and they can assist in the process.

Holy… NOT ideal.  Looks like too much of a potential for grudge reports to be made.

This “Jon” guy in the video is hardly an ambassador of the 2nd Amendment, nor (seemingly) of sober living.  Is that a reason to disarm him though?  Did he do anything that put himself or anyone else at risk?  If he didn’t, I’m really not down with this “having the potential for crime” type garbage.

Seattle, WA.  May 1, 2015:

The scene is set by this kid (Shayne Butts) carrying a rifle while wearing a camouflage plate carrier with a gasmask hanging off of it, magazines on his BACK, in addition to other magazine pouches and god knows what those other rear pouches are for.. Oh and he has one of those “fuck me up fam” type haircuts we see in the barber memes.  Is he a hero?  Is he a villain?  In my eyes he’s neither, he’s just doing it to prove some a point he thinks needs to, and it’s within his rights to do so.  Would I do that?  haha not a chance.  Do I think it’s disruptive and sets the open carry movement back?  I’m with Shanye on this one… I don’t really care if people are uncomfortable.  If they don’t like the laws in the state or country as a whole, the world is a big place… take up residence elsewhere.

You can tell Shayne is extremely nervous.  He keeps his cool though despite being heckled and filmed buy dozens of people.  What was with that main big dude getting all up in his business with that tough guy attitude?  Oh another winner at 1:44 in video #2 surfaces too screaming “You’re putting every person of color’s life in danger by bringing that here.  You are threatening me.  You are threatening me.” *eye roll*  Holy that lady at the end of video #2 also is so obnoxious…

Open-Carry-Most-Interesting-Man-In-The-WorldI think one angle that may have worked better would have been if Shayne would have just 100% kept his mouth shut and didn’t bother engaging any of those emotionally charged individuals at all.

There is a short interview you can watch with Shayne over at King5.

Kyle Lamb does NOT approve.

Hopefully none get a mind of their own and turn out to be assault bricks:

Some 716 guns were turned in. With support from the charitable foundation of famed glass artist Dale Chihuly, they’ll be turned into bricks. The mayor plans to visit public schools around the city to hear from students about how gun violence affects them, and their messages of peace will be represented on the bricks.

Regarding assault bricks, how ironic would that be if someone got beat to death with one of these bricks?

Wow 716 guns!  *eye roll* Gun buybacks are such failures it’s hilarious.  If it only saves one life though right?

Come as you are, preferably with cash or a gun you don’t want:

With a gun, all you have to do is walk up to some dude with a cardboard sign under the freeway, hand over the gun for the money, and forget about it. Not only is there no background check, you don’t even have to know the buyer’s name. There’s a gun-sale report you could file with the state. But unlike with cars, it’s voluntary.

Hahaha epic, that smells like freedom to me.  I see nothing wrong with a collector or regular guy padding his safe with awesome guns that people found or decided they were scared of, or just didn’t want. I highly doubt criminals are going to venture to gun buybacks, when they could just as easily buy a gun off the streets hours later when they aren’t crawling with cops.

In the spirit of seattle grunge rock, I’ll quote the late great Kurt Cobain even though he was talking about not having a gun:

And I swear that I don’t have a gun
No I don’t have a gun
No I don’t have a gun

Definitely my favorite acoustic album of all time, but I digress…

Oh wait… never mind, just a couple AR-15s and a 37mm flare launcher *facepalm*:

Seattle Police said they recovered a grenade launcher and automatic weapons in their Thursday night raid of a house in Eastlake. Officers found two AR-15 assault rifles, one of which was equipped with a military style grenade launcher.

Good work guys… *slow clap* I know i’ll sleep better tonight knowing a recreational firework launcher is off the streets.

Besides the gun, it would be hard to take someone like that serious.

There was some awkward silence and staring at the end.. I thought something big was going to go down.   At the very least I was hoping the robber was going to blast a hole in his junk when he haphazardly was putting the gun back in his pants.

I knew the cost of living in Seattle was high but…
