zip

Mattv2099 is a sucker for punishment:

Zip-22LR-Weapons-System-2Everything about that gun just makes me cringe.  I love how it’s considered “impressive” when it can make it through a magazine LOL.

That thing is obviously pointless for any sort of self defense.  Range use only just seems frustrating and dangerous.  Lose-Lose situation if I’ve ever seen one.

As soon as he started sticking his KA-BAR all over and inside it, I was just thinking “Please Matt… don’t hurt yourself.  Just do yourself and the world a favor and toss that thing in the garbage before you get hurt.”

Thoughts?  Would operate with?

Is the Zip still a piece of shit, or are all the kinks ironed out?  I blogged about it a few times when it came out, then didn’t hear much about it again until Mattv2099 did his videos, the last one being where he put the spring upgrade kit in it and was actually able to put rounds through it without malfunctions.

Besides the fact the square design of the zip is kind of cool, I still think it’s a needless reinvention of the wheel… where the wheel is made more dangerous and not as functional in the process.

An advanced new polymer .22 LR pistol that can be deployed a number of different ways:

Yea the video is long and drawn out, but it shows a bunch of cool renders as examples. And you thought the Glock was a “brick”? hahah:

What are those posts sticking out of the front of the gun by the barrel for?

I really like the idea, and the cool futuristic look.  I’ll reserve any other judgement for when I see a production model, or find out more details about it.  The ZiP factory website is useless right now, and shows a 28 day countdown.  I’m assuming there will be some useful info on there come launch date.  I still fail to see why companies do this so far in advance… but to each their own.

It doesn’t appear to take 10/22 mags, which isn’t the be all end all for me, but that would be nice.  Who knows though, ZiP could very well have figured out something way better?

Triggers like the one on the ZiP are normally horrendous, but we can wait and see.

Too much branding and other writing all over the gun… I really hope they lose that on the production model.

MSRP is $200 – $219!  I like that.  I want the survival rifle configuration.

I imagine this would work pretty well at close range.  I wonder if the cartridges can be loaded into the magazine where the staples used to go? Having it feed semi-automatically would be impressive.

Unfortunately it looks pretty dangerous.  It’s probably good that the maker of this didn’t have the “go big or go home” mentality and make a .50 BMG one.
