Suppressor on a Saiga-12… nice.
Looks like a pretty decent show. I’ll have to remember to DVR it.
First time hearing of this show too. Do they just modify guns or something?
Don’t use magazines as monopods!
You can’t suppress shotguns!
Glocks with reloads explode!
M4s can’t shoot past 500 meters!
shooting a pistol sideways is dangerously inaccurate!
is it me, or is there a lot of things we get told that we just take for granted? What other sorts of statements are we blindly following instead of trying?
144db is still absurdly loud and could cause you permanent hearing loss… so what’s the point?
A 12 gauge, esp with that barrel, absolutely would cause permanent hearing loss to all 3 in that little room. There is your point.
Exactly right. People worry about over-penetration all the time. How about reducing all the forms of collateral damage. I would love a shotgun that kills the badguy/zombie without leaving me and the rest of my family with permanent hearing loss.
I’m guessing this is the shotgun from the movie the customer wanted to imitate:
Oddly enough, I had read this article and watched the video about this movie gun about a week before the show’s premiere. When I heard about silencing a semi-auto shotgun, I knew that wasn’t going to work. The guys in the Curator’s Corner video say it works on a Rem. 870 pump however.
tony rumore at tromix suppressed a saiga 12 years ago. and shotguns have been suppressed for years. especially in europe
A suppressor on a shotgun is a simple thing to do: it just requires a sound suppressor -designed- for the ob. If you’re using slug ammunition it’s just like any other bullet. Any kind of scatter shot however is different. To fire shot ammunition from a shotgun with a suppressor – it requires a suppressor with a one to one fitting tube off the end of the barrel that prevents the shot cup from opening. Otherwise the shot cup would open up and the shot load would strike the baffles and the suppressor would probably explode. It’s not nearly the monumental task that Will in the show paints to be: they’ve had sound suppressors on shotguns in Europe for years. More over, his sudden brilliant inspiration (sarcasm) was to make a suppressor with multiple expansion chambers. It’s a simple matter: THERE AREN’T ANY GOOD SINGLE EXPANSION SUPPRESSORS! NONE! They *ALL* have multiple expansion chambers in order to slow the progression of explosive gasses. I watch the show for entertainment value, but upon occasion I feel like yelling “Schmuck” at the TV as I’m watching the program.
I have seen suppressed shotguns in my past, but it motly has to do with the shell and not a barrel modification. The most ‘suppressed’ shotguns had to do with altering the cartridge to a sabot.
Fortifying the barrel with expansion chambers DOES work…. however for a short time only as the pressure will tear the barrel apart. This was tried in S. Africa and after 12-18 shots a new barrel was needed. Unless you have the money, do not try this.
Also paper work is a problem….. Short barrel and suppressor foir a shotgun add up to ‘watch this person’.
Only my opinion as I have only seen primitive types/versions (1987-1992) as shown on ‘SONS OF GUNS’
This is the first time that I can think of A TV station taking A Popular show off because of some leftwing liberal anti gun cry baby’s !
