American Sniper Trailer

Starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle:

American-Sniper-Movie-Bradley-CooperHoly he sure looks the part, his accent is on point too.

Interesting clip they picked for the trailer.  I bet so many people that see it are like “Ew he shot kids?  Why didn’t he just shoot the grenade out of the kid’s hand?” *face palm*

I’m curious if the timeline of this movie will cover right up to his death.  Anyone know?

Clint Eastwood is the director of the movie too, so hopefully the quality and authenticity will be there.

I don’t know if Chris Kyle had a sense of humor or not, but if he did that would be so awesome if Zach Galifianakis was in the movie in a supporting role.

Thoughts?

  1. Should be a decent movie; Eastwood can do good work behind the camera and there is plenty of material for him to work with in this case. I’ll see it on that basis alone.

Interesting way to go with the trailer. While I understand it’s meant to invoke an emotional response from the viewer, it does a good job of showing the kind of tough, split-second decisions and the resulting doubts/regrets one can experience making an honest living with a gun (especially behind a scope). I’ve said it before, it’s all about perspective and context…two things COD freaks and internet commandos do not have. (stepping down from high horse).

I also look for there to be a big spike in precision/sniper chatter on the web soon after the release

Will Jesse Ventura play himself in the movie?

    1. I’m hoping they will have this in the movie but not actually refer to his name.

      1. I’m not really sure what to think of Kyle. Clearly a gifted soldier…but the crazy stories he made up after his service are wack. His life was crazy enough without making up stories about shooting looters off the Superdome post Katrina, or shooting two car jackers, or knocking out Ventura.

        1. Sounds like you already know what to think – “but the crazy stories he made up after his service are wack”.

          1. No, I’m not sure what to think. I’m fascinated more in what would make a person so motivated and talented that seems to have it together feel the need to fabricate those stories. His real-life accomplishments were otherworldly. Why embellish them?

I’m betting the movie will be entertaining. I like Eastwood. I’m sure I’ll see it.

            1. “No, I’m not sure what to think.” yet you state, “motivated and talented that seems to have it together feel the need to fabricate those stories” and “but the crazy stories he made up after his service are wack”. So, apparently you do know what to think.

By-the-way, besides Italians in Martin Scorsese films, potheads and wannabe gangsters, who still uses that term “whack” ?

              1. So you’re just not gonna let this go then? That’s whack man. Just like crack.

        2. has there been proof he made up those stories

          1. There was on the Ventura thing, but the hell with what a court decided, it’s all bout mob rule…

You bring the torches, I’ll bring the stakes and nails…

            1. Wow, if you rely on the court system to determine “proof”, then you are, at best, dangerously naive. Ventura’s punk ass sued his estate, and widow– a classless act if ever there was one. It never ceases to disgust me that someone who is a demonstrable fabricator, such as Ventura himself, (what with his false claims as to having been a SEAL and all), would sue the grieving widow of a true patriot over his portrayal in a book.

            2. that wasn’t proof to me he just won. to chris was and will always be a standup guy

              1. FWIW, wasn’t refering to your comment, but rather to hal’s…

  4. I’ll go see this. The main thing that stayed with me after reading the book, was Chris Kyle’s strong motivation to protect the guys he was overwatching, SEALs, Marines, US Servicemen, whoever it was. Nothing but respect from here.

  5. I like it, planning on seeing it now
