The same type of gun used to cook bacon, now in beautiful slow motion with fitting music:

The first part where he only shot 3 – 5 rounds at a time was kind of weak. I’m glad he kicked it up a notch later on.

DEMILITARIZED ZONE, Korea - Security along the 160 mile wide DMZ has gone high-tech, as South Korea has quietly installed a number of machine gun-armed robots to serve as the first line of defense against the potential advance of North Korean soldiers.

When the robots’ heat or motion detectors sense a possible threat, an alarm goes off in the form of a siren or signal on the screen at the command center. The operator then uses the robots’ video and audio communication equipment to talk with anyone identified by the SGR-1 before deciding whether to fire the 5.5-milimeter machine gun.

My question is… When do we get these for the Mexican border?

The $200,000 price tag for each one seems like a steal of a deal. Heck if I were super rich I’d pick up a few right now to watch my stuff.

Check out the hilarious promo video:

According to China’s People’s Daily Online, the Taliban have taught monkeys to recognize U.S. Military uniforms and shoot at the soldiers using AK-47s, Bren machine guns, and mortars.

Full Story – HERE

Ugh, lets hope there are no splinter cells here at zoos in the United States. :P

On the plus side, i’m pretty confident a monkey wouldn’t have very advanced military tactics, and could easily be taken out with a .22 LR or enticed to stop shooting with some more food.

Thanks to this story, I will no longer associate monkeys and AKs with this cute picture.

If he shifted any more weight to his rear foot he probably would have pulled the trigger and fell over.

The video is apparently from the Bi-Annual Knob Creek Machine Gun shoot in West Point Kentucky.

It’s hard to tell from the video, but the gun appears to be a suppressed MAC-10 or M-11 (chambered in 9mm as the description says).  The AR-15 stock kit is a nice touch.

I don’t follow politics at all, but Rand Paul seems to be every bit as interesting as his father.

While mounting the M2 machine gun onto the turret system of his MATV during pre-combat checks, this soldier experienced difficulty inserting the locking pin on the MOD 93 machine gun mount.  The soldier then attempted to force the locking pin into place with a rock. After this failed, he then secured a loose .50 cal. round, using it to hammer at the locking pin, attempting to force the locking pin into place.  After several hits with the .50 cal. round, the primer activated, setting the round off in the soldier’s hand. Extensive injuries were suffered to his right hand, middle, ring and pinky finger.

See the official weapons safety message memo – HERE
*Warning Very Graphic*

It’s really unfortunate when Darwin comes for soldiers… but hitting a live round? COME ON.. how does he think his machine gun fires?  This incident would have been a bit more understandable if it occurred in the heat of combat, but the memo specifically states the soldier was mounting the M2 onto the turret, pre-combat.

On the bright side, I guess he get a ticket out of Trashcanistan.

Scary stuff.  Unless these Americans are fishing for a living in order to put food on the table, I don’t know why the hell you would risk fishing and/or boating if you knew a Mexican drug gang (Los Zetas) was cruising around robbing people. Seems like a dumb risk, even if you are armed.

Also, since when can you just freely drive across borders (water or land)? I thought it was a universal thing that you needed to go through a port of entry or have prior authorization of some sort.  Also, can U.S. citizens normally fish freely in Mexico?  That’s what it sounds like in the article and video.

I’m sick of hearing about shit like this.  When is that damn fence going to be complete already?  And will it extend through the water part of the border? :D

On April 30th, the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam war I posted an article with links to a few picture sets.

A British Army sniper has set a new sharpshooting distance record by killing two Taliban machinegunners in Afghanistan from more than a mile away.

Craig Harrison, a member of the Household Cavalry, killed the insurgents with consecutive shots — even though they were 3,000ft beyond the most effective range of his rifle.

The distance to Harrison’s two targets was measured by a GPS system at 8,120ft, or 1.54 miles. The previous record for a sniper kill is 7,972ft, set by a Canadian soldier who shot dead an Al-Qaeda gunman in March 2002.

Full Story – HERE

Very impressive kills.  I couldn’t even imagine the adjustments you would have to make at that range, and even the mirage that he must have seen looking through the scope.

Tom Irwin, a director of Accuracy International, the British manufacturer of the L115A3 rifle, said: “It is still fairly accurate beyond 4,921ft, but at that distance luck plays as much of a part as anything.”

If he took shot after shot and EVENTUALLY hit the insurgents I would call it luck. According to the article though, Harrison fired 3 shots.  The first 2 hit and killed the insurgents, then the 3rd and final shot he used to disable the machine gun they were using.  If that is luck, and not skill, then Harrison is pretty damn lucky.

Anyone know why it took so long for this story to reach the news? According to the article, the record breaking kills happened in November 2009.

I think it’s interesting that the article refers to the caliber of the L115A3 as 8.59 mm , and the caliber of the previous record holder, Canadian Sniper Rob Furlong’s rifle as 12.7 mm.  I suppose most of the rest of the world is on the metric system, and they might be familiar with those numbers, but referring to them as .338 Lapua Magnum and .50 BMG in addition would likely have avoided some confusion (here in the U.S. anyway).

Very powerful pictures.  A few in this set because very famous, even won Pulitzer prizes.  I remember when the first Rage Against The Machine album came out in 1992 with the picture of the burning monk on the cover.  Definitely their best album by the way.

I’m sure war hasn’t got any easier, but when I look at those pictures it’s amazing to see how much they did with NO modern technology. Sure makes how I spend my days look insignificant.  I have the utmost respect for anyone that has ever served, or is currently serving in the Military.

UPDATE: Steven S. notified me of lots more pictures just put up at another PLOG – HERE

On his way to this weekend’s Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot in West Point Kentucky:

Allen Harvey Friedlander, of Southfield, Mich., was piloting the plane when it crashed on an outer road that circles the fair grounds between gates 1 and 6 about 8:30 p.m., FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said.

No one else was on board the Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee, which was registered to Friedlander.

Eight machine guns, three upper receivers — or gun parts used for assembly — and several thousand rounds of ammunition were removed from the plane, according to Alicia Smiley, a Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman, but the amount and types of guns removed was unavailable.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating the weapons, which are being held in Louisville police’s property room, Smiley said.

Full Story – HERE

My guess is he was bringing all the guns to the Knob Creek shoot to make some money off rentals. (Now Confirmed HERE)

Interview with the Pilot:

Hopefully the man makes a speedy recovery, and the ATF gives him his guns back.

Ottawa Canada – RCMP officers who guard Parliament Hill are being equipped with submachine guns to give them more stopping power should a gunman attack the heart of Canada’s government.

Security, which has already been significantly beefed up after a high-profile breach last December, will get another boost in the coming months when Mounties patrolling the Hill get the Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine-gun.

While officers will still rely on their semi-automatic 9-mm pistols as their main weapon, they’ll also have access to the small but effective machine guns, which will be carried as a “secondary weapon” in their cruisers

Wouldn’t it make more sense to carry both? If the purpose of the MP5 is to quickly take out an “active shooter”, running back to the car and unlocking the gun then finding the shooter again does not seem like a good plan.  My guess is they won’t be carrying the MP5 because Canada is so sensitive to guns.  All their police carry handguns, so the general public is used to that… but adding a rifle into the mix full time would likely cause a huge stir.

The RCMP have noticeably stepped up security on Parliament Hill since a daylight protest last December by Greenpeace activists, who used climbing gear and a ladder to reach the rooftops of the Centre and West Blocks, where they unfurled banners taking aim at Ottawa’s climate change stance.

That definitely sounds like a problem that an MP5 will fix.  hahah

There is no word in the article regarding what version of the MP5 they will be using.

It’s that time of year again…

For the bi-annual Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot in West Point, KY. Held this year on the 9th, 10th, and 11th of April.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with the Machine gun shoot, it is legendary for so many reasons. One being the “Night Shoot”:

A search for “knob creek” on youtube will yield hundreds of other epic videos.

My Glock Stock Adapter will be represented there this year, and be in action at position #20 on dual G18 Glocks in the center of the main firing line.

Unfortunately I won’t personally be there. But, I will be posting videos and pictures sometime after the weekend.

I think it’s safe to say that the $10 admission would be money well spent.

Developed by Colt back in the 1930s. The rate of fire is listed at 700 rounds per minute (For comparison, the Glock 18 ROF is 1200 rounds per minute):

The curved magazine is pretty unique looking on a handgun!

Notorious gangster John Dillinger (who the recent movie Public Enemies is based on) and his gang had a similar weapon in their arsenal, only theirs was converted to .38 super.

Notice the fully auto M1911A1 has the same foregrip as Dillinger’s Thompson Sub machine gun does in the movie poster.  This is obviously for better controll with such a high rate of fire.

There are a number of pictures of the Dillinger M1911A1 floating around, but this one is the best quality I have saved (Click picture to enlarge):

Pretty classy looking if you ask me!

Making breakfast couldn’t get any more manly:

I’ve discovered a new way of cooking bacon. All you need is: bacon, tin foil, some string, and.. oh whats it called?… oh yeah, an old worn out 7.62mm machinegun that is about to be discarded, and about 200 rounds of ammunition.

1) You start by wrapping the barrel in tin foil. Then you wrap bacon around it, and tie it down with some string.

I will never understand the allure of outlandish Japanese movies.

When it comes to ones that have guns in them, I’d like to think this takes the cake… But I’m probably wrong:

The movie has 3 parts total.  The embedded video is part 2, but if you feel you need to see the background story and a conclusion, check out PART1 and PART3.

This Chevy Suburban fitted with a M2 machine gun was found in Nuevo Laredo Mexico, just across the Rio Grande from Texas:

Pretty scary considering some points of Nuevo Laredo are less than a mile from houses in Texas! (Google Map)

Unsurprisingly, Google does not have “street view” on their maps in that part of Mexico.  Probably something to do with their automated censor program not being able to tell a dead body from a live one. :P

Looks like the M2 would have limited mobility in the back of that suburban because due to the barrel length it would be trapped between the frame on the back right side window.

About a week ago I wished for A More Interesting Biathlon… Well my wish was granted:

Best Line:

Not only is he using the wrong car, he is using the wrong gun. 22 is alright when you’re 9, but when you’re in a hurry you need one of these. A Heckler & Koch MP5 Machine Pistol.

If one LEGO gun can almost get a kid suspended.  That same principal would be fighting for the death penalty for a kid that brings this to school:

I count 5 mini guns alone!  Those mounted black squared off guns are likely supposed to be Browning M2 (Ma Deuce) machine guns, I see 2 of those.

The LEGO zombies don’t stand a chance!

Amazon doesn’t have the whole set, but they do have these LEGO zombie town folk.
