Cat Shit One – Apocalypse Meow Episode 1

The first episode of the Cat Shit One animated series is out, and blog reader Adam S was awesome enough to send it over for me to check out.

Here are my thoughts on it:

  • The animation and physics are incredible… It’s basically like a grownups version of Toy Story, but with animals and guns.
  • The camera angles in the animation are really neat as well, and really add to the viewing experience.
  • Sound effects and music are top notch.
  • One discrepancy I did note, is that the rabbit’s hearing protection is always at the side of their face, not where their ears are… not a big deal though.

The main rabbit character “Packy” has what looks like an m4, but it takes AK mags… a lot of people think that was a mistake, but it’s not. The rifle exists and is made by Knights Armament Company, model: KAC SR-47

Not that much happens in this 20 minute first episode, but I’m sure the story will develop more in the remaining episodes.

I seriously hope that the rumors aren’t true, that the studio Anima will be releasing one new episode every one year.

wtf, one per year?! That’s quite the schedule. I sure hope not too. I think a plan like that would backfire on them big time.

The 7.62 AR was the first thing I noticed and for a mercenary in that locale it makes way more sense than the 5.56. They really went all out on the realism of the hardware. I loved it!

Leave it to the Japanese to roll awesomeness and weird into one big bundle. Seriously, whats in the water in that country. lol

Id like to know the background story on how they came up with the name. I notice that they had to change it for release in the more puritanical US of A.

yea who knows what the deal with the name is. I’m assuming it will make more sense in a later episode. According to the wiki page the Vietnamese are played by cats.

Interestingly the Americans are represented as rabbits which in Japanese is Usagi or U.S.A-G.I. it’s a sort of the play on words.

KAC SR-47 project went nowhere. Only seven exist—one in KAC’s possession and the other six went to USSOCOM (not even God knows what became of those six after… though apparently Packy managed to get hold of one lol). Feeding “dirty” 7.62x39mm ammunition the DI action caused it to be extremely unreliable and the M4 was as rugged and reliable as an AK in comparison. Fortunately for Packy, his rifle won’t malfunction unless the script calls for it. But in the real world, I wouldn’t trust my life to an SR-47.
