Magazine Rotator / Boxed Ammo Speed Loader

Wow, this looks awkward:

ROFL he actually calls it a speed loader… classic. I guess he and I have different definitions of “speed”.

I couldn’t picture anyone using this period, much less a soldier using it to swap rounds from one mag to another.  Don’t even get me started on the fact that it is 3 pieces.

I could have sworn that springs wear quicker from use, and the fatigue on the spring for a loaded mag just sitting there is basically negligible in the short term.

Never take what a guy in a cheap ass tactical vest tells you at face value. :P

  1. Yeah, I think I’ll stick with my Lula. Cheap, easy, faster than this gizmo, and far more compact.

    …Did I just get trolled?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for innovation (especially when it’s useful), but I feel like this guy is trying to reinvent the wheel, and make it completely fucking stupid in the process.

  3. That is very stupid.
There are many better options out there.

“Never take what a guy in a cheap ass tactical vest tells you at face value.” <- Words to live by.

  5. You know, as an engineer I can appreciate the way the mechanism works… and it’s a pretty nifty solution… the thing is… as with many inventions nowadays… it’s striving and trying too hard to create a problem that it can solve. Personally, I enjoy chatting with my buddies while handloading my Pmags at the range.

And to the admin, fatigue is a mechanical stress that arises from repeated cycling of a part, such as when you bend a paper clip back and forth until it breaks. Keeping a loaded mag will reduce spring life due to plastic deformation of the spring under a static load but for all practical purposes, it can be considered negligible.

I dunno, I don’t feel like dropping down 600$ for a loader, it makes me think: is thumbing them in really THAT bad?

I reckon if he had on a HSGI plate carrier and the loader was in Multicam more folks would be aboard.

I could see how this would be useless to those who only load a mag or two at the range, but I would have been more than happy to kick a puppy to get one of these while I was on active duty. Between loading mags at ranges or during training and the fact that most of our ammo came boxed this would have been extremely useful. As far as “Rotating” ammo, I agree about the spring bit being negligible, but it sure would have been helpful for when you had to do round count when coming off of duty.

I’d buy one just to try it out.

For better or for worse, probably yes.

reminds me of the classic PEZ dispenser, and it looks like it is even worse in action.
I remember how it would always throw my candy on the floor or “jam” when i used it.
and while i see that it would be easyer to use this than to manually load every magasine, i think it would be more easy to just give soldiers preloaded plastic magasines.

  9. I can think of an easier, quicker and funner way to empty a full magazine….

LOL nice. Lucky I saved it to my harddrive for eternal LOLz.

      1. How do you save a youtube video to your hard drive?

I’d email it to you, but its 45MB. Streaming that off my server would kill the speed unfortunately.

      1. Post it on rapidshare, vimeo, youtube, or any other video hosting site. I don’t understand why he’d pull it. Perhaps he realized how dumb of an idea it was?

        1. I don’t think it would have been so bad if he didn’t look very awkward trying to balance a magazine, the middle part, and the loading tray all together.

Maybe he’ll give it some more practice and make the same video take less than 30 seconds to drop the rounds into the tray.

Nice thanks! I updated the post.

  12. Hey folks, I’m the inventor in the video.

Just to let you know, I pulled the video because what’s shown is just a prototype design that I sent to an interested distributors to demonstrate the concept. The final product is much faster and easier to use than what is shown here. Hopefully the product that will be coming out in a few months time will be a lot more to your liking. And the video will look more like an actual advertisement unlike this one which took me 5 minutes to whip in my basement. and no i wont be wearing that vest again in that video.

In viewing this video, I ask that you keep in mind that what’s shown is a product still under development and does not reflect the final ergonomics and quality of the actual product.

Otherwise, I’m open for your suggestions and criticisms because it helps me improve the product.

    1. As a proof of prototype, it’s not bad. However, my original criticism holds. Your product is almost as large as a magazine, in 3 pieces, and requires preloading. For a man at a desk loading a stack of magazines, it would probably be quite handy. For a range bag or field use, however, you’re going to have to sell hard to convince me that you’ve got something better than a pocket-sized Lula loader.

      1. Pretty much all that’s said here.

Also, the ability to swap rounds from one magazine to another is useless. Springs wear from being compressed and released. You are not going to wear out the spring by leaving it loaded. The feed lips might creep after a long time of being loaded, but this isn’t something to worry about in the field. If you swap rounds between magazines to prevent feed lip creep, then….what do you do with the now empty magazine? I don’t know of anyone who carries empty mags.

  13. The concept is convenient, but as the prototype stands, I think most of us can just unload the other mag, and refill the new one as quickly as we like.

@Ray the Inventor: Negative comments and practical arguments aside, thanks for putting together something that with time hopefully will turn into something unique. The one thing that people can’t say about the product is that it isn’t innovative, I think if you let the innovation juice keep flowing, the practical, quick, and convenient aspects of it that people are looking for will come together later. Keep working at it. Good luck.

While I like and encourage a guy trying to come up with a better mouse trap. This seems like over thought out, in efficent. If he had done a little market research he would have found the maglula and realized what his competition was.

  15. Guy: Just pull the stupid plastic thing down and gently insert the ammo into the magazine.

Guy’s head: Please please please work oh my gosh please this is the 5th take why didn’t i learn how to edit videos oh please god please

OI. THE DUDE IS INVENTING SHIT. HE GOT OFF HIS BUTT AND USED WHAT KNOWLEDGE HE HAD TO MAKE SOMETHING. HE IS GONNA REFINE IT, SHOW IT TO A FEW PEOPLE, GET CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, MAKE IT BETTER…….

AND MAYBE MAKE SOMETHING BETTER THAN THE MAGLULA, MAKE A BUNCH OF MONEY, AND PROVIDE A NEW TOY FOR US TO PLAY WITH.

What was the last product that had your name on it, anyway?
