Does Glock Give You The Confidence To Live Your Life?

Another commercial from Glock:

Everyone knows I love glock, but it’s become obvious that the Glock marketing department recently bought a digital SLR and learned about Adobe After Effects… or were sold the idea by a external marketing firm.  Both commercials so far were quite pointless. (the first one is HERE if you want to check it out)

I don’t really get this whole “Confidence To Life Your Life” campaign either.  Is that implying that anyone without a Glock is likely a scared little bee0tch? If so, i’m sure those sound like fightin’ words to a lot of people.

Thoughts?

Glock is facing some serious threats from S&W and a few others. Going with Glock is no longer the standard in the LEO market. Smith and Wesson hit a home run with the M&P while Glock did a belly flop with the Gen 4. This attempt at damage control is just as bad as the first year of the Gen 4.

For disclosure, I own a Gen 3 G19, Gen 4 G17, and an M&P

Most of the cops I know are actually picking up XD’s, M&P’s and a couple SIG’s…haven’t seen many Glock’s around the local Sheriff/Police departments lately. Not sure how it is nation wide, but you’re right from what I can see.

I think the confidence they’re trying to convince us of is that only cops should have glocks and that we don’t need them. I better go donate mine to the local PD and give them thanks for protecting me from harm.

I’m surprised by all the Non-Glock gun lights in the commercial. Since they make their own, I’m surprised they didn’t pimp their own products.

Then again, I own a Streamlight and a Glock light, and the Glock light is just not as good.

i smell the fresh scent of competition. Glock dominated the LE market, and by extention every other market, throughout the 90’s and 2000’s and now they’re getting their first serious challenge from S&W. the M&P is marketed specifically to LE and so, in the good old way, it becomes a best seller in the civilian market too. i think the geniuses at Glock should spend their time better getting the rest of the bugs out of the gen 4 platform than making cheesy internet commercials, but what would i know? S&W has discontinued more great guns than most makers ever thought about and after they got the kinks ironed out of the M&P it has really caught on and now Glock is feeling the heat. maybe their gen 5 guns will be better….

Im suprised by all the crappy firearm grips in both commercials.

Goes to show you how non-firearm people are prevelant in the firearm community.

Looks like Glock might be afraid of losing market share and is starting a campaign. They are learning. I think this is the first time in over 10 years they have had to try and get business. I think it will get better.

Is Glock turning into HK, in that they think we suck, and hate us citizen who also carry. Cause it is starting looks like they favor the government “only ones” over us lonely “civilians-types”. At least that is what it looks from what the marketing department is putting out lately.

IMHO, no. I dropped a G17 off at Smyrna last year and was treated very well. I think Glock just Tex Grebnered themselves in rushing the Gen 4 and for some stupid reason screwing with the extractor & ejector.
