exactly what you said, except id add that they all need to be suppressed with a good quality take apart suppressor. and the 10/22 needs to be SBRed to about 4 or 4.5″ (can go longer if you stay mainly in hotter climates).
i can see the AK and the remmy 308 as being viable alternatives however. the 308 with a can on the end of it isnt too bad of a choice if you are mostly in an open area (arizona perhaps? plains areas?). the AK if it comes down to “i need just a damn reliable gun”. The AR15 will hold its own if you keep it well lubed, but the AK will just run and run and run. doesnt suppress well though (and its hit or miss if the threading is bore concentric and therefore wont be prone to having the can go ballistic.)
If i may add in names,
Glock 17 (or 19 if you prefer) with a SWR Octane 9HD (Great take apart can for a good price)
Mid length ar15 with a Huntertown Arms Kestrel 5.56 (Cheap can that just works and when you open it up, its a simple design.)
Ruger 10/22 SBRd with a good red dot or tritium dot and a SWR Spectre (1 or 2, doesnt matter. i personally have a 1 so yeah)
id also add a ruger mk2 with the same 22 suppressor.
although zombies arent real. this is all just conjecture. Its a good start for a my first NFA kit though.
You hate on FPS Russia quite a bit. I find him entertaining, not educational but enjoyable. With that being said, My choices would be my 10/22, 1911 (because i reload) and a 30-06 (again because i reload)

The .22 will really get you any gun you want, on a dark and lonely night, if you feel the need for a pistol.
Most common stuff would be most preferable IMO
1) AR – plenty of military and LE AND civilian examples to salvage and swap parts
2) Probably best to have an M9 (military) and an M&P40 and Glock 22 (LE). Better yet if you got a can.
3) 12 GA (870 or 500) – Yeah, low cap and close range limited, but you don’t have to worry about magazines and you get a variety of 12 GA ammo to use if you find it.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. I also imagine that finding 7.62×39 ammo is more difficult than finding .223.

AK (I only chose it over the AR because I have absolutely abused mine, including firing a 5.56 round through it, using it as a boat anchor, dropping it countless times from countless heights, not to mention the ones I used across the ponds). If I run out, odds are there will be plenty of Stoner Boners lying around.
Remington 870. There are few situations in the world where a shotgun is impractical, and space isn’t even one of them.

Living out in the desert, the M1A is a better fit for the terrain vs. an AR or AK.

2. 1911 of the government or commander variety (when used as a backup to a long gun I still prefer the old war horse- as a stand alone weapon not so much)
3. M1A- why give up capability for an accuracy increase in a bolt gun that maybe 1 out of 20 shooters I see at the range or in classes could use? The round and accuracy of the M1A will solve any situation that anyone less then a true HSLD dude can manage.

Between the 3 you have the most common and inexpensive calibers, in reliable, capable platforms that are easy and affordable to train with.
1. My CZ SP01 Shadow 9mm + My .22 kadet 2 upper. I have access to qutie alot of 9mm, and a shitload of .22
2. Ruger 10/22 or any other .22lr that can take a 25+ round Magazine.
3. Shotgun, any variant or model.
if I were to pick three….hmmm
I would go for a .45 or a 9mm for close ranges….a shotgun would be nice but if I was going in a building or the like, but it would be too cumbersome to carry around on top of my mid-long range rifle.
I would go with an AK or the like for my mid range/long range rifle, I would not go an AR even though I love the platform because I want a rifle that I can go without maintaining it very often for when cleaning supplys get low.
And for a food supply rifle, I would go with a Henry AR-7 or a Ruger 10/22 backpack rifle, the one you can break down into two parts. That way I have something for hunting small game without wasting my defence ammunition. I would also be able to break it down and put it in my pack and not worry about it getting in the way.
If there was a true apocalypse scenario, you would want to remain on the move, either A: Supplies would quickly become limited in a Zombie Scenario. B: In either an Alien/Government Collapse Scenario, the people who you would have to defend yourself from would most likely be looking for you once you start shooting, you wouldn’t want to give them time to be able to find you.
1st: HK Mark 23 .45ACP OWS (because if you are going to go nuts..why not have the most thoroughly tested .45ACP since the original 1911?) *and including the suppressor*
2nd: Select Fire M4 with 5.56mm standard and in a backpack,the following conversion kits;
CMMG .22LR, Spartan .50BMG (including suppressors)
3rd:
Mossberg 590 series or a Benelli M1014 12 gauge.
Second choice of 3?
1st. Beretta M9 (with suppressor) *9×19 parabellum is carried by a lot of police,and military*
2.FN FAL or HK G3 (i’m leaning towards G3) in .308Winchester/7.62x51mm with a scope and suppressor.
3.MP5 (with suppressor) because if you want a SMG,why not use the gold standard?
1) Glock 22/23 – .40S&W – not because I think it’s all that great of a round, but with most LE Agencies in the US using, parts and ammo might be more readily available. I also have a KKM 9mm conversion barrel that provides additional options.
2) AK47 – Ultimate reliability. 6″ pattern at 200yds. Harder hitting round than .223/5.56 – my geographic environment rarely has more than 200yds of open firelane unless you’re standing in the middle of the freeway!
3) Remington 870 – ultimate reliability & flexibility of options

I’ve only been a shooter for 20 years, and am most comfortable with 1911 .45 though I have shot most other handguns. I think nightlights would be very important during the power-outages/blackouts that will be occurring. The shotgun would be mostly for instances of being over-run or close-quarters with groups of 111’s (slow-movers; I don’t buy into the fast-moving zombie craze, especially if they get FASTER than when they were alive). The AR-15 is what I’m most comfortable with as far as a long-rifle… good for the longshots, hunting, and even against hordes in full-auto as a last resort..
Dems are good eating- we would have such a political issue in this country if we ate more. Unfortunately, ppl miss sometimes.

I have a 3/4 buried shipping container loaded with 5 years worth of gourmet food and decorated like a 70’s porn studio. On standby are a half dozen strippers who when/if the zombie apocalypse occurs will be wisked away to the enclosure and I’ll weld the door shut from the inside. Their frozen hearts will keep us cool during the summers and I’ll be doing everything possible to keep us warm through the winters. We’ll be totally safe unless zombies figure out how to use a plasma cutter or the coke and meth supplies run out.
Either way I’d rather spend the zombie apocalypse pounding something other than zombies with 10/22’s in archangel stocks and 50 round ramline mags.

2. Remington 870 tapped for a scope with a rifled slug barrel in 12 gauge. Tons of ammunition types, can be used for hunting deer or small game, as a self defense weapon, and it’ll open most locked doors you happen to find.
3. SBR’d Arsenal SLR 107. Compact with the stock folded, 7.62×39 is great out of short barrels and reasonably common, and it simply won’t break. A suppressor would probably be nice to go along with that as well.

Get your hands on a Badger Blade. Well made and will last forever. I have katana, wagi and a broad sword I let them use to demo with when I go to the local ren fest.
Also, if you can get a pendant dagger do it. If your lady uses and it ends up locked up as evidence, they’ll send a replacement immediately with a copy of the police report. :-)
If you can only have 3, one of them HAS TO BE a pistol. People from war-torn countries have repeatedly said that a pistol is far more valuable than a rifle. You can’t be running around town or the farm with a rifle strapped to your back all day.

How many of these folks touting the desirability of “suppressed” arms have even fired a suppressed firearm or intend to go through the process of acquiring one?
I have shot using them many times and I will be going through the process of getting a can soon. I am originally from a country where they can be easily acquired. Were it not for the terrible regulations on suppressors in this country I would recommend every firearm owner have at least one can.
Perhaps if every gun owner had one the regs wouldn’t be so shitty.
