Tacticool Goes Mainstream But Then Fails

Behold the “CZ 455 Varmint Tacticool”. Ugh… CZ, how bush league:

$522 USD over at CZ for something clearly called what it isn’t.

You just know the dad-age marketing guy’s 14 year old nephew put him on to the term “tacticool”.  He thought it was “hip” and would “jive” with the youth who shoot, so he ran with it.  Yea those are terms that I picture nerdy dads using.

Where is the quad rail? Shoulder thing that goes up? High capacity assault clip capability? Canted red dot mount?  Barometer? Wind meter? Vertical fore grip? Multiple laser beams? Glock mount? Bottle opener? GPS?

Whoa Whoa… hold up; last paragraph:

with a gentle butt hook to provide excellent control.

Gentle butt hook?      Pause.

Tactical As _ _ _ _ T-ShirtThoughts?  I know some of you guys just want to get that gentle butt hook.   You’ll have to turn to Craig’s List unfortunately, because CZ doesn’t offer that service separately.

Tacticool is the name of the Boyd’s stock it comes with.

They’re pretty nice laminate stocks for under $100.
Boyd’s makes them for 10/22’s and I think Savages as well.

It’s called the Tacticool because that is the actual name of the stock that is used. It is the Boyd’s Tacticool stock.

If it was the “Varmint Operator” then they might have something here. “tacticool” is just life imitating art imitating life.

Who *DOESN’T* want dat gentle butt hook?

Dave March 5, 2013 at 01:02 am

It’s called “Tacticool” because that’s the name of the stock, which is made by Boyds Gun Stocks

This joke cleared a few readers heads by several feet.

Considering CZ competes with Savage rimfire models and savage has the Tactical Rifle, I’m happy to see CZ make this offering. The name relates to the name of the Boyd Stock. The Tacticool stock is a regular upgrade for Savage rifles to replace the flimsy plastic stock.

Just don’t google Butt Hook if you are easily shocked or offended.

i have a 455 lux with a wood stock and iron sights. its a great little gun, good for working on fundamentals, but does adding a black polymer stock make at a tactical weapon?……hell no.

BBJones March 5, 2013 at 04:44 pm

its not polymer. its wood.

The reason CZ has this model is because many bolt gun shooters buy rimfires that look and act like their centerfire rifles and dub them “trainers”. Basically they build marksmanship skills that will translate over to a more expensive gun to operate.

Dads’ age: Jeff Cooper, 1911, Johnny Winter, and American Iron.

Now: Endo, Glock, Justin Beiber, Honda Civics, and Airsoft.

I’m thrilled to be an old fart.

Not funny enough for a shirt, a fiddy CD, or an mp5 airsoft though, eh? My breath is bated.

If I ever make my own rifle it will have a glock mount, and a butt hook!
