The COOL MAG from SUNPOWER SYSTEMS is a totally new and innovative way to air cool your rifle. Utilizing a 12v 30 CFM fan powered by two 9v batteries to push 18v through the fan.
The system is actuated buy a roller micro switch when the COOL MAG is put into the lower receiver.
The COOL MAG blows air throughout the rifle cooling the upper and lower, the bolt and the barrel.
Made from a Tapco mag this custom design is painstakingly made by hand with an aluminum plate fitted to hold the micro witch.
Yes the fan is big but we took function over aesthetics, do you want to look cool or be cool.

For the low price of $109 on eBay. Looks legit! haha

It’s your lucky day, the company will fit this system to ANY mag you want to send them.  According to the eBay page the custom cool mags take 3-4 weeks to make.  Wow, think of all the backorders and custom jobs they are going to have once the entire gun world knows this is available.

xzibit-cool-magAnyone buying computer fans and trying this themselves?

The science behind this is so solid, I bet even on automatic an ar-15 would stay at a cool 50 F under sustained auto fire from back to back mag dumps.

Thoughts?

Plus, if you’ve got water handy, you can create your own smoke screen on demand.

I think this stupid idea may have a secondary purpose. At the range and you want to leave but that rifle is way too hot to put back inside the case? Magfan to the rescue.

Not really, it probably wont do shit.

I was thinking that was it’s purpose all along. Who would bother with it if the ammo was in the way of the airflow? I’d want the spot where the fan was to be completely cut out, not just skeletonized so it could still hold ammo, to maximize effectiveness so you could smack it in after a 3-gun stage or something to help keep your gun comfortable to hold. Jam it in a quick-access mag pouch on your back when the next stage starts. Paint the mag orange or blue and it’s a nice compliment to a chamber flag.

Considering how much restriction is in that path, though, especially if you close the ejection port cover like you should so all the air doesn’t just leave through there instead of going down the barrel, a squirrel cage fan would be far better for that, like the ones you see on high-end video cards. They have a lower flow rate but much higher static pressure. You could mount one right to the floorplate so you wouldn’t even have to give up a mag in the process, or if you have a used-up mag that doesn’t feed right laying around, shave off the feed lips and use that. Get a 12-V RC car battery rubber banded to the side of it, a switch and a fuse, and you’d be set for a whole day.

I don’t see how this does anything but blow durst into your mag. None of this air can possibly circulate into the rifle unless the bolt is open. most of the heat is in the barrel and bolt carrier. What I really need is a cooler for the can.

Blowing Fred Durst into your mag is a serious problem.

Got one on a whim. It works well. Right about the range blazing zero. Correct about the water, lolinski. I run it for a minute with the dust cover open , then 5 minutes shut after a 100 rnd beta mag dump with a defendar fifteened and fail zero bcg’d windham cdi. Its not perfect, but its TWICE as fast as just letting it sit.

Get in the gym and build some muscles so when you throw a water cool jacket on that byatch you can still shoot accurately.
