Redneck Batman Shoots Grappling Hook Out Of Jury-rigged 12GA Barrel

Trust Royal Nonesuch to finesse this:

After watching the entire thing I’m really astonished and glad he didn’t get a grappling hook to the face, or even the top of the head when it was coming down.

Royal-Nonesuch-ENDO5:16 – Doesn’t have time to dick around with unjamming the grappling hook with conventional methods, so he’s going to use a case full of 180 grains of FFFG black powder.

Royal Nonesuch is an interesting guy, and a man of the people.  I hope he stays in one piece so he can continue to have fun and show us interesting stuff.

Thoughts?

Saying jury rigged is like mixing up you’re and your. The correct term is Jerry rigged.

I’m frequently surprised at how often this phrase gets used incorrectly, or used correctly and “corrected” by someone else.

I’m willing to assume some of the confusion may be regional usage in different parts of the country?

For the record, I’m with ENDO-Mike on this one…

the etymology of the term, i believe, is from the Jerries (Germans) in the World Wars making do and creating elaborately half-assed engineering solutions.

Jury-rig comes from the Middle English word jory saile meaning “makeshift sail”. Jury-rig is dated to at least 1788, Jerry-built goes to 1869.
Webster says jerry-rigged is an amalgam of the two first used in 1959. They all mean basically the same – makeshift or cheap.

Both appear to exist but have different definitions. Jury rig is fixing something or building something with only the tools available on hand. Jerry rig is designing something in a poor way.

As part of the videos RN should be shown to cut class to do his thing and have a frumpy, bumbling highschool principal or college dean try to foil RNs plans

Yep, I was picturing mainly Principal Rooney from FBDO, but all in the same vein; that 80’s rascally youth vs crusty authority figure meme. Due to his appearance/mannerisms of course, but I think it jives also with how RN and his format fit in the firearm-media situation; he’s humorous and pleasant but fundamentally, inherently anti-establishment.
