act of valor

HALO Jump:

UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle):

Pretty neat videos.  Seems like Richard Ryan is trying a bit harder now to be likable, which is nice to see.  He used to be pretty obnoxious.

I’d like to own, or at least play with a high-end UAV someday. HALO jumping, or skydiving in general I really have no desire to ever try.

He loosely acts out a few of the scenes:

I still envy his job… but these videos are getting kind of dry.  For one he should stop talking so much.  I watch the vids for the weapons and shooting, not for a forced Russian monologue.

Judging by some other videos I’ve seen, it looks like the LAW rocket part at 2:09 was faked.  Pretty lame if you ask me.  I guess they know the audience is mostly 12 year-olds that they can pull one over on.. so why not save the money. *shakes head*

The fact that this movie was filmed with DSLR cameras AND they used live fire basically puts it at the top of my list of movies to see.  I didn’t have time to go to the SHOT show this year, but I should have just flown in to see the advance screening of this movie which they would have let an industry guy like me into.  Oh well I guess I’ll have to wait until sometime after February 24th like the rest of you.

I don’t know how much LIVE fire they actually used, because in the above video it’s obvious that some of the scenes especially around the 1:13 mark are not live fire or the whole camera crew would have been dead.

Up until 30 seconds I thought this movie was about blogging:

When the rescue of a kidnapped CIA operative leads to the discovery of a deadly terrorist plot against the U.S., a team of SEALs is dispatched on a worldwide manhunt. As the valiant men of Bandito Platoon race to stop a coordinated attack that could kill and wound thousands of American civilians, they must balance their commitment to country, team and their families back home.

Looks like plenty of operating going down in that movie.   You guys have no idea how bad I want to run on the top of a partially submerged submarine in the middle of the ocean. Shooting an enemy douchebag in the face while one of you guys catches the body to mitigate the splash is pretty high on that list too.

Release date: February 17th, 2012
