phone

After coming across a recent Make magazine project on how to retrofit a bluetooth headset into an old rotary phone earpeice,  blogger Mike Haeg decided to do the following:

I decided to mod a Bluetooth earpiece for my phone out of a kids plastic toy gun. Now, I look forward to receiving a call from the First Lady while I’m at work. I draw the gun out of my pocket, stick the barrel in my ear (the speaker is in the business end), and pull the trigger to answer the call.

That on its own is a terrible idea.. but then I read this:

I’ve been debating on painting it to look like a real gun. (I get equally giddy and frightened by the panic that this could cause should someone not notice that the gun is a fake or should I accidentally take a call while at the bank.)

Miami, FL – Nayara Goncalves already experienced one of the “biggest moments” of her life: becoming a Christian.

The second came last Friday, when the 20-year-old cellphone store manager put her good works to good use — persuading a would-be armed robber to put away his gun and leave her store in the name of the Lord.

Wow, pretty intense.  I kept thinking the robber was going to shoot himself.

“You don’t need to do this, Jesus is coming soon… Go to YouTube, watch the videos”  I had to laugh at that… what a sign of the times when someone is told to check out YouTube to learn about religion.

Mostafa Mohammad, the manager of a Chicago cell phone store says it was just instinct that prompted him to spring into action and fight off an armed robber Tuesday evening.

Oh Chicago, you always provide me with such good material.

When I saw this video I thought *FINE, I guess disarms sometimes DO work*.  Thank god the bullet didn’t hit anything important when the gun went off.

I love when people flip it on the criminals.

According to a FOX news article today on security, hackers can aim a Bluetooth sniffing gun at you from long range and tap into your cellphone.

Yes, adding a stock to anything increases the stability of it, but If I saw someone pointing one of these things at me from a distance i’d be seeking cover not making assumptions and remarking “oh those crazy Bluetooth sniffers, up to their same old antics”

Photo evidence of why it looks like a good way to get shot by the police:

I had this picture saved on my harddrive for a long time.  Very Chilling…

I assume the phone was being used to set off some sort of IED, but they managed to disarm it before hand.
